Japan is marking Children's Day on Tuesday. About 1,000 carp-shaped streamers are on display near a Tokyo landmark to wish for the healthy growth of children.
Crowds flocked to Tokyo Skytree in Sumida Ward for the annual event. The colorful streamers fluttered in the wind at the foot of the 634-meter tower, setting up a perfect photo opportunity for families and tourists.

🍀LUCKY LEAVES✨
Three types of leaves, thanks to their symbolism, play an important role at this time of year.👑🍃daimyo oak or Japanese emperor oak (柏 'kashiwa)
🎋🍃bamboo (笹の葉 'sasa-no-yō')
⚔️🍃iris (菖蒲 'ayame' or 'shōbu') -
There are two sweets, both wrapped in leaves, that are absolutely essential for "Children's Day": kashiwa mochi (かしわ餅/柏餅) and chimaki (ちまき/粽).

Chimaki (ちまき) is also the name of a sweet traditionally eaten on "Children's Day" (May 5th) for good health.
Steamed rice dumplings are tightly wrapped in a sheath of bamboo leaves, their finished shape much like the prongs of a chimaki amulet.

I walked through this nature portal and I ate some of my favorite mochi, chimaki - 2nd photo.
Because I ate it so quickly (nary a photo of the real mochi!), I'll buy some more today to post later.
Yes, that might be suspiciously convenient. But I can only find it this time of year, so hey!
