Day 34. Tokyo, Japan.
9 July 2025.
Here we go again. More heights!
Tokyo Skytree is 634m high. The weather is bright sunshine but hazy in the distance so spotting Mount Fuji didn't happen.
The difference between Seoul & Tokyo is plain to see. Lots of green & open areas in Seoul. Virtually nothing in Tokyo & because of Tokyo being on an earthquake fault line, there's hardly any high rise buildings.
But the views, wow!!

Weekend in Tokyo: Saturday Travel Tips and Highlights (Part 2)
Second Stop: A Breather at the Imperial Palace Gardens After my time at the Senso-Ji Shrine, I walked out through the Nakamise Gate and crossed the Sumida River to Kamiya Bar park. This is basically walking towards the Skytree Tower. It was a beautiful day and a short walk to see the river and park on the other side was enjoyable. When entering the park, I ran into a US expat that had been living in Japan for 20 years. He stopped me and asked where in the US I was from (I guess I […] -
Japan is marking Children's Day on Tuesday. About 1,000 carp-shaped streamers are on display near a Tokyo landmark to wish for the healthy growth of children.
Crowds flocked to Tokyo Skytree in Sumida Ward for the annual event. The colorful streamers fluttered in the wind at the foot of the 634-meter tower, setting up a perfect photo opportunity for families and tourists.

Twenty people were trapped for about six hours after an elevator at the Tokyo Skytree stalled just 30 meters above the ground on Sunday. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2026/02/23/japan/skytree-elevator-trapped/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=mastodon #japan #skytree

Well the timelapse of the view out of our hotel window worked out pretty well. The timing was good, as it started shortly before sunset and continued just log enough into the night to capture the arrival of the snow that obscured the view. It's now snowing steadily.
Avoiding reflections is always an challenge when photographing through a window at night, but by far the biggest offender was the camera itself and it's stupid blinking red recording light on the front of the camera near the lens that doesn't synchronise itself to avoid lighting up while a timelapse frame is being taken.

:blobcatnompizza:
