I have interacted with Knoebels various times through the years and saw many presentations where Dick was one of the presenters but back in 2018 I had a chance to talk with him directly for a bit. He was one of the most incredible people with a passion for his park and the industry in general. Celebrities pass and we post things about them but despite the fact that he probably wouldn't have known my name this loss feels like a real gut punch to me.

Yesterday I got to complete a child hood dream of mine and was able to walk the entire track of a wooden coaster. This was an experience donated by Knoebels that was auctioned off for charity at a coaster event. Early in the morning I met the mechanics and walked the entirety of Twister (in reverse). Climbing a first drop on catwalks is craaazy 😂

Haunted Mansion might not be in our wheelhouse per se, but everyone loves the #Knoebels haunted house.

If you've been to the park recently you know how different this area looks now. Lots of trees still, but an antique car ride, flat rides, and Phoenix Junction have also been built in this area.

19. Flying Turns - @knoebels
Flying Turns is not the flashiest roller coaster out there, but it's certainly one of the most unique. Flying down the trackless layout, twisting and turning up on the banked turns, it's an experience that makes you feel like you've turned the clock back.
The only-one-of-its-kind-in-the-world coaster lands a spot on our list for its clever engineering and all around enjoyable ride.
