Today #KDE turns 30. On 14.10.1996 Matthias Ettrich asked for programmers to build a #GUI for normal people, and almost three decades later I run #Plasma on #ArchLinux every single day. 🙃
What I like most is that the project survived its own mistakes. #KDE4 in 2008 scared many users away, but it laid the ground for #Dolphin, #Okular and the #desktop I use now. Plasma 6.8 finally completes the move to #Wayland.
For the birthday the #KDEeV asks for 1996 supporting members and runs a "30 for 30" #environment contest. Funded by small community donations, no corporate owner, and that is exactly why #FreeSoftware matters to me. 🤜🤛
