#inventree is gearing up for 1.4.0 - You can help!
There are a few breaking changes coming up and now is the perfect time to:
- help with translations
- check if you plugins work with the 'latest' images
- deploy on your testing instance and look for any breakageThe release is expected to be cut in the next 3 weeks once final PRs and bug reports are completed.

I have developed something new for the #inventree ecosystem: a project management plugin that enables you to:
- define required parameters based on type/stage
- do light task tracking (with ideas how this could be coupled to GitHub issues/jira/openproject)
- parse and emit project data formatsThis is still in alpha and requires a dev/latest instance for testing. Feel free to reach out if you are intrested, install via custom index.

Tinkering in #inventree recently & wouldnt it be great if I could search it for the location of X using lab's #homeassistant page. HA>inventree integration broken (author aware), and too heavy for task. So wrote a HA script to search via latest api. Then someone said "I thought it'd be voice activated". Challenge accepted... Voice intents on HA and some yaml/scripts later We can ask HA voice pipeline "Where is a X" and it reads out stock location. Will try to make time to publish it on github.

InvenTree 1.2.6 contains fixes for new security advisories
Updating to 1.2.6 is strongly advised. See GHSA-rhc5-7c3r-c769 and GHSA-m8j2-vfmq-p6qg for details.
Every admin should be aware of the assumed trust in our threat model. If you followed it you are not vulnerable see https://docs.inventree.org/en/latest/concepts/threat_model/many thanks to patelhettt (x2) and alonaki for their research and responsible disclosure

Attention: Release 1.2.0 has no support for PostgreSQL 13 - our docs contain information regarding PostgreSQL updates - https://docs.inventree.org/en/latest/start/migrate/#migrating-between-incompatible-database-versions.
At least PostgreSQL 14 is required, we recommend PostgreSQL 18.

RE: https://chaos.social/@InvenTree/116059586117578078
I am looking forward to seeing more deployments out there!
If you know #kubernetes #k8 #helm or have deeper knowledge around these technologies I invite you to check things out and let us know what could be done better.
I am reasonably familiar with docker and the security implications / bag of grenades it can be. Kubernetes is something >other people™< do at my place of work, and I would rather improve the ecosystem than learn another deployment stack. To be honest.

1.1.10 release with fix to long standing registration control problem
The newest release https://github.com/inventree/InvenTree/releases/tag/1.1.10 fixes a long-running issue where SSO registration could not be enabled without also enabling built-in authentication registration.
With debugging support by the community, this cosmetic issue could finally be fixed.Upgrades are encouraged as there is also a patch for a vulnerable dependency.

If I were to give a 20-25 min talk about InvenTree, what would be more interesting of a topic to focus on? Also open on other (InvenTree related) topic suggestions.

@agowa338 @ct_Magazin partkeepr ist archived aber #inventree (@InvenTree) und #partdb exsistieren als Elektronik-fokussierte Nachfolger
Home Box ist für Heim-Inventar aber sicher simpler. Elektronik-Bauteile damit zu verwalten stelle ich mir allerdings komplex vor.

InvenTree 1.0.5 was released yesterday! It fixes a few bugs, especially user reports regarding a - for many distribution methods - too strict INVE-E7 check.
A timely updated is recommended.

Anyone of my followers have access to the JLCPCB ordering API (preferably docs) - scoping if it would be a good source for a InvenTree SupplierMixin plugin once that merges.
I do not think I have enough orders (0 this year ;-) ) https://jlcpcb.com/help/article/jlcpcb-online-api-available-now

Re-started a project I once used as a tech experimentation:
Discover information about releases (including SBOMs) and check your instance for obvious security issues;
Up next (at some point)
- recommended upgrade paths
- notification mail on release
- plugin registry
- plugin compatibility chart
- maybe: plugin badges -

Playing with security scanners looking for ways to make #inventree deploys more secure out of the box. I am amazed how little time ppl seem to spend on keeping their stuff up to date and secure.
Considering if this is something the team needs to address or if we should just ignore it because this seems a lot like a full time job.

Request for feedback:
I have been considering adding telemetry to an open source project for years now. We currently have no insight into what features are actually used and if support for settings, old python versions, etc is necessary anymore.
I threw together this proposal, I would appreciate feedback: https://github.com/inventree/InvenTree/issues/4150#issuecomment-2193917974This is not going to be implemented any time soon, but I know the #foss and #selfhosted community is more aware of privacy and data reduction than most.

I continue to buy random nerdy things nobody in their right mind would. This time: barcode scanner. Used for 7€ per piece, I bought 2. This comes from me sticking labels onto many items that are now tracked with #Inventree and my smartphone's ability to read QR Codes really annoyed me, I thought it might be a good idea to get these scanners.

We finally got around to document the project governance. It is not much but it represents the current processes and structures.

The new, fully integrated auth experience for InvenTree - getting released with 1.0 - is now merged into the development branch.
Please test it by running the nightly „latest“ image and report issues.
It completely rewrites how we do MFA, provider logins, email management, password resets, verification and security contexts so I would be thrilled to get feedback if you stumble on any issues. Better to fix them now than after 1.0 releases.
