Почему умерли лаунчеры?

В нулевых у пользователя Windows было две системы. Первая Windows XP, загружалась с диска, показывала ядовито‑зелёный «Пуск», синюю панель задач, загрузчик браузера и уверенно делала вид, что этого достаточно. Вторую пользователь собирал сам. Снизу ставился RocketDock, чтобы было почти как на Mac. Поверх XP натягивалась тема под Vista, потому что сама Vista уже выглядела красиво. В угол попадал CPU‑Meter с температурой процессора, погодой, сетью и другими признаками того, что компьютер не просто работает, а живёт насыщенной внутренней жизнью. По горячей клавише вызывался Launchy. Окна прятались в трей CaptainTay‑ем, с обязательнным Boss‑Key. Раскладку спасал Punto Switcher. Скриншоты делал отдельный скриншотер. Хоткеи держались на AutoHotkey. Это была не коллекция утилит. Это была функциональная прослойка на условных рефлексах между человеком и системой. Днем унылые пары, а ночью Vista Transformation Pack на свежепереустановленный ZverXP, потому что хотелось красоты. Дикий рынок, пиратские диски, форумные сборки, доверие на честном «у всех антивирь ругается» и надежда на то, что если программа весит меньше мегабайта, значит, она почти святая. Сегодня большая часть этих динозавров вымерла. Сайты пропали, сертификаты истекли, последние версии лежат на загрузочных агрегаторах как цифровые окаменелости. Но вся странность в том, что сами функции не умерли. Они победили. Просто теперь быстрый запуск, поиск, хоткеи, скриншоты, виджеты, command palette и автоматизация живут внутри ОС, браузеров, редакторов, SaaS‑продуктов, PowerToys, Alfred, Raycast, скриптов и AI‑ассистентов. Классический лаунчер умер не потому, что стал не нужен. Он умер потому, что его разобрали на органы и пересадили в платформы.

not sure what dvr he is using - i think it has a 2tb hd or something - we have like 12+ camera - he was like hey you were supposed to bring in your laptop today but i said i had my phone which did help once we were up and running - we changed modes to repeater and he said it was running great until the password issue cropped up, we will call support and see what the deal is - it is an interface issue #hotkeys

I am using the latest versions of NVDA with Firefox and am on the someplace.social homepage. I just found this wonderful post, full of keyboard shortcuts for Mastodon.

Only just learned the hotkey for moving a window between monitors:
shift + special + left or right arrow

(at least on #Fedora)

And I learned it by mistake!

Do you use the keyboard controls for Mastodon's official web interface?

If so, you might like to know that there's an undocumented command Ctrl + Enter which will publish whatever you're writing. It's not clear why this isn't on the official command list. (Thanks to @antdesros for pointing this out 🙏 )

Alright I officially fell in love with the hotkeys of KDE Plasma 6. I love using 4 workspaces and navigate them with a custom hotkey showing the global overview.

Together with other custom hotkeys I can navigate the system without touching the mouse. This is so much easier than on Windows.

Windows is still missing a search if you tab between windows, this is such a game changer on KDE to just type for the app to focus.

I'm not sure I follow. Do you mean like "^g + ...", or "Alt-g + ...)"?.

Or just the letter "g" itself is a hotkey in one of those web clients?

Elpher (a Gopher/Gemini client in Emacs) uses #hotkeys in this manner, as do some other cli clients (vi/Vim), etc., but in a GUI I'm mostly used to seeing either the Ctrl (^), or Alt keys used, even in most terminals, i.e., "Alt + Shift +v" to paste in most Linux/BSD terminal clients, analagous to Windows' "^v", While Tmux is "^b + ..."

Google does a lot of controversial shit but making `/` a hot key for giving focus to their search bar, IMO, should be default hotkey on all sites.

All those docs searches, Gitlab, and Github search bars, shopping sites' search bars, they all should be focused by pressing `/`. And in no case they should continue stealing `Ctrl+F` from user.

I just disabled my keyboard navigation extension in my browser, so that I could use the native hotkeys in the Mastodon web interface.

I see that they use the traditional j, k for up and down.

When I press j or k nothing happens. What gives? Other hotkeys work!

Does j and k work for you to scroll up and down on the home screen?
