These past two weeks have been challenging for me.

I’ve been learning that sometimes even the changes we deeply wish for can feel overwhelming when they finally arrive.

Life can bring beautiful things: new beginnings, building a future with someone you love, … and still, your nervous system may need time to understand that you are no longer in survival mode.

The most interesting part was realizing that before these changes happened, my body was already showing me signs. My nervous system was calmer, my body was responding differently, and I started noticing things I had never really paid attention to before.

But when the changes became real, something inside me went into alert mode again.

The overthinking came back.
The disconnection came back.
The questions came back.

And the easiest question to ask is: “Why can’t I just enjoy this?”

But I’m learning that when your body has spent a long time protecting you, sometimes it takes time to recognize peace as something safe.

Being neurodivergent also means that I can experience changes in a very intense way. My brain processes emotions, transitions, and uncertainty differently. It doesn’t mean something is wrong. It means I need to understand myself with more patience.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned recently is the importance of compassion, not only from the people around me, but also from myself.

I often ask others to be patient with me, but I’m learning that I need to offer that same patience to myself.

I’m learning that asking for support instead of carrying everything alone can make life lighter. That communicating what I feel can create connection instead of fear.

I know I am in the right place, with the right person, because my body recognized it before my mind could fully understand it.

This journey is teaching me to listen, to trust, and to be kinder to myself.
