Flood emergency grips Interior Alaska 🌊
Rivers don’t send warnings twice. Ice jams are pushing water into places that don’t usually see it this fast… and whole communities are scrambling to adapt. The question now isn’t what happened, it’s what’s still coming next. 👀

TAN-uh-NA, not banana 🍌❌
Tanana sits where the Tanana and Yukon Rivers meet, a remote Interior Alaska community known for river history.
Thinking of visiting? Lodging is limited, so plan ahead. Start here for current options: 👉 https://nativeamerica.travel/listings/tanakon-bed-and-breakfast
PRO TIP: Tanana does NOT rhyme with banana. 😄
Alaska Headline Living was not paid to say Tanana doesn’t rhyme with banana, or for anything else in this post.

The best part about the spring melt in Tok was finding long-lost Christmas decorations in April!

This picture is so peak Alaska. I took this on my way from GlenAllen to Tok in 2017.
I miss the Interior, I truly do.

I've posted this before, but it's a fitting pic with the Solstice so close. This was Tok, AK, about 10ish years ago.
That glow gets me every time.

Never underestimate the value of a flushing toilet in Alaska. #Alaska #InteriorAlaska #Chicken #HowDoYouAlaska

I have always liked this picture. The vegetation across the water surface makes it look like shattered glass.
Outside Mentasta, AK - Interior.

Sunrise? Sunset? It all tends to be the same during midwinter in the Interior of Alaska. This was taken on the drive back from Fairbanks to Tok. It's Salcha, AK...most known for incredibly icy conditions in the winter. I remember calling it Salcha hell back in the day.
But the view was pretty!
(Fairly sure this was sunrise...soon to be sunset within 2 hours)

Is there a #Mothtodon community here? #Entomology Mastodon? Bug people of some kind? These guys invade my house in #InteriorAlaska every fall/winter… what should I do with them?
When the weather was still above zero, I was just putting them outside. But now it’s like -15°F and the idea of throwing the little guys out the window makes me feel bad. 😂 At the same time, I don’t want larvae eating my house or something. 👀

FROM ALASKA DOT&PF - Hey, #InteriorAlaska, Eagle Summit has blown shut and both lanes are closed down. We're experiencing high winds in the area, and crews are responding. For updates go to 511.alaska.gov. #keepalaskamoving #winter #snow

@watchful It's a great place to visit especially with kids. I used to live in #InteriorAlaska so I made many trips to Fairbanks.
