It’s been 11 years since I visited Sea to Sky Gondola in Squamish, British Columbia in Canada. We were there not for long but that visit left a mark in me. The beauty and serenity of that place was at that time incredible to me. I took a few photos there, I will share them in some time. I start with this one, a small bench from which you can see the beautiful forests around.

Work today takes me to #Squamish where we are convening the second Átl’ka7tsem/Howe Sound UNESCO Biosphere Region Roundtable. We’re looking at how the aspirations of the Biosphere’s Nchu’ú7mut/Unity Plan can be embedded in existing and upcoming planning processes in the region. #HoweSound #UNESCO

The view west toward Hermit and Popham Islands revealed whales blowing and spouting. Our brief glimpses of them suggest they were humpbacks, perhaps as many as five in the group. I caught this image and will add it to my vast collection of whale splashes and spouts. #BC #HoweSound #Canada

Very hard to see, but there are about two dozen dots of light clustered in a horizontal line at about the center of the top edge of the photo.
I am pretty sure these are a Starlink satellite group from a launch on 5 June 2024.
You likely need to expand or magnify the image to see the string.

Visually, the air looks like a cool, foggy, rainy day on Howe Sound, maybe a day in late September, but it is actually a bit warm and there is grey smoke in the air. It is smokey enough that you can smell it if you try, but if you are not thinking about it, there is no obvious oddity to the smell. Visibility is limited and the far mountains are obscured beyond two miles or so. The air has been generally still all day.
