In B.C. there is an unknown small competition for recognition of the tiniest #ProvincialPark. B.C. Parks tells us that it's Memory Park on Vancouver Island but @thetyee has an indepth article on the history of Dead Man's Island and has used satellite measurements to prove this park is the smallest. Warning - the article is long and fascinating, and worth it.

  8. My spouse and I have been staying at a yurt the last couple of nights, and we have been having a blast despite lots of pain and lack of sleep. We have to cut it a night short, as the bed is super uncomfortable, and my 8 pillows, wedge pillow, and roho cushion aren't cutting it. We saw the Northern Lights twice, the lake is right by the yurt, and we have cooked our meals over the fire. It has been a dream, and a long time in the making. Our babies are happy and comfy with Nana and Grandpa, and Great Gram and Grandad. We have chatted, read, sat by the fire, and today we are going to learn how to flat stitch bead some berries.

  10. #Ontario #Canada residents take note. The #fordgovernment is planning to sell off part of a #provincialpark. Can you help with the Environmental Defense campaign?

    Hands off Wasaga Beach!

The Ontario government recently announced plans to sell off 140 acres of public land in Wasaga Beach, including 60% of the beachshore lands that are currently protected as one of our most popular Provincial Parks. Provincial parks belong to the people of Ontario and should remain protected, not sold for development schemes. We hope you will help us raise $50,000 so we can launch an impactful public awareness campaign to amplify the message that Wasaga is Not for Sale.

Should you have any questions, do not heitate to contact us at 1-877-399-2333 ext. 259.

  18. To go #camping in a #provincialPark one has to:
    • reserve the camping site three months in advance
    • cross two sea inlets by #ferry because there is no road since the inlets go very far inland and it's very mountainous.
    • the ferry must also be booked a couple of months in advance
    • since you have to drive between ferries, you have to calculate the time needed
    • without owning a car and also renting a car...

Today I managed to accommodate all the factors at once!
