A sunny, windy day on the West Penwith moors. 10 miles from St Just to Madron, we vary the site selection each time we do this walk, other than always taking in my two favourite stone circles. Today we also had two Neolithic chambered tombs, another stone circle with a hole in it, some more stones with holes in them, a handful of Bronze Age cairns and a fantastic Iron Age hillfort. I love it here, a megalithic paradise.

Wiltshire wandering today, a 9 mile slow walk from Warminster to Heytesbury, taking in two fabulous hillforts (Battlesbury and Scratchbury), four hills with fine views and a handful of excellent Bronze Age round barrows. First time at these sites for me, the archaeology is first rate.

A 10 mile, 6000 year bimble along the Cotswolds escarpment between Stroud and Dursley today. Three Neolithic long barrows, including the wondrous Hetty Pegler's Tump, a Bronze Age cairn and an Iron Age hillfort, with 4 hills (Tumps) thrown in for added exertion and heat.

A 14 mile Cinderford circular today, wandering in the hills on the eastern edge of the Forest of Dean, via Soudley, Little Dean and Edgehills, taking in five hills, one mossy trig, and two hillforts, Soudley Camp and Welshbury. The latter is an absolute gem, a well preserved multivallate woodland treasure.
