Mashable: Google cracks down on Chrome extensions following Honey scandal. “Late last year, a YouTube video uncovering the shady affiliate tactics of PayPal’s coupon Chrome extension, Honey, went viral. 3. The Plaintiffs, a variety of companies owning YouTube channels, allege PayPal's Honey replaces their affiliate codes with it's own, causing PayPal to receive the credit for the purchase and not the entity who posted the affiliate link. The Plaintiffs allege Honey does this even when it can not apply a discount. Finally, the Plaintiffs allege PayPal "misrepresented the nature of their actions and took steps to hide and obfuscate them from customers and marketers alike" (page 12, allegation 70) and "misrepresented the nature of its product and services to consumers to entice them to download the Honey extension" (page 12, allegation 71).
The Plaintiffs allege all of this has financially harmed them.

More interestingly for Honey users, the Plaintiffs allege Honey collects inter alia "the exact time and date, store, user ID, device ID, visitor ID, session ID, referrer URL, first referrer URL, location (including city and country), browser, and client" (page 12, allegations 75-77). This claim is uncited.
