Ich habe vor knapp einem Jahr das erste Mal überhaupt den Namen Olga Fröbe-Kapteyn gelesen und Abbildungen einiger Meditationsbilder gesehen. In dem sehr empfehlenswerten Buch von Jennifer #Higgie . The Other Side: A Journey into #women
#Art and the Spirit World.
Und jetzt gibt es eine Ausstellung in der #Kunsthalle #Mainz zu ihr. Yeah!

One of the things, that makes #TheMirrorAndThePalette such a good book about #femaleartists & #womensart is #Higgie ‘s willingness to write about #misogyny & #patriarchy not as some quasi mythical structure that enforces women to let go of their ambitions & subjectivity, but as a set of rules that needs massive brutal enforcement through very real & concrete men (and some women) to work. Her quotes from art critics slashing violently at women artists are really sobering.

Beim Suchen nach Abbildungen & weiteren Werken der von #Higgie erwähnten Künstlerinnrn bin ich auf die Website der #AWARE Stiftung gestoßen und das ist eine sehr gute Ressource für #Künstlerinnen #Kunstgeschichte #Feminismus, die wollte ich Euch unbedingt empfehlen.

Ich erfahre hier gerade, dass #GwenJohn für Ottilie #Roederstein & deren Freundinnenkreis als Model gearbeitet hat: „the German/Swiss artist Ottilie Roederstein; ‘the two Miss Browns, Anna and Ida’; Isabel Bowser, (…) (Zitat aus #Higgie, The Mirror and the Palette.
Ich meine, in Deep Ausstellung oder im Katalog gab’s dazu nix, aber ich kann mich auch sehr gut täuschen.
