an unusual subject for me, this is a captive Yellow-Dotted Glass Frog i met at the Wikiri Sapoparque frog research center in Quito
this is a healthy frog perched on aquarium glass, the reason you can see the heart and other insides is because this animal is transparent!!!! hence the name "glass frog"

part of my macro workshop involved working w/ flash to overcome the extreme depth of field issues, i'm a bit meh on flash but me thinks this one's a keeper
(Note: all animals photo'd for this class were wild herps locally wrangled & returned to the wild after-- prefer not to post any picture of "collected" animals (however temporarily collected) w/out disclosure

CW: Snake snek danger noodle
We met this pretty garter snake on the trail today. The ones I usually see have a yellow middle stripe, and red-to-yellow highlights in their side patterns; this is the first one I recall seeing with a pale “surf green” stripe and greenish khaki side patterns. Clearly it was alarmed by us, but we passed by quickly. #Herptile #herps

This frog was not discovered sitting on this colorful flower but instead collected by a local herptile wrangler who returned the frog to the wild after our macro photo class... I wouldn't necessarily count this as "wildlife" photography even though the frog came & went back to the wild but I did learn a lot in the class
