The haskap bush we planted like 10 years ago is finally starting to give us a decent haul of berries!
Took a bunch of those and some fresh rhubarb and made a compote to go with some pork chops for dinner.

Have you ever heard of #haskaps? (You may also know the plant as #honeyberry, or (blue) fly honeysuckle, depending on where you come from!)
I hadn't until probably a year ago.
They're a species of #honeysuckle, essentially, with edible #berries, and some growers cultivate them as a commercial crop. They're quite niche in the UK still (but there are a few specialist growers), but more prominent elsewhere. (Apparently, though in some countries they're believed to be toxic!)

Oh well, congrats for being so adventuresome! Strawberries and blueberries are very forgiving when it comes to jam-making. That's one activity that's compulsory for me every summer or fall. I picked #haskaps 6 weeks ago and I've frozen until I have the time and the mojo to jam them. They worked out really nicely with lemons last year and I've almost finished up what I made. -

@IPEdmonton yesterday I made pie, curd (for tartlets) and syrup with some more of my #haskaps. Everything was good! Haskaps have more pectin than I realized, though, so my syrup set up a bit more than is perfect. But it’s meltable!

Making this #cake early this morning (while it's still under 20C) with the last of the hand-picked Rosy Farms #haskaps. I think it should be good, but we'll see!

Ooh, WTG! I picked #haskaps a couple of weeks ago but just threw the bag into the freezer because it's mostly too hot and if it's not (and not too smoky), I wanna get out and enjoy it before summer's over! -

I did well on the insect front when I picked #Haskaps on Friday evening. I was too busy and it was too hot so I just threw the bagful into the freezer to deal with later. Like raspberries, they're very delicate. -

OMG, those look great! I picked a kilo of #haskaps yesterday since fruit-picking is an essential summer ingredient for me. I threw the whole bag in the freezer today after adding a few to my morning yogurt. With the #heatwave we're expecting this week, I have no desire to do anything like canning or baking today. Also, I want to experience the weekend art festivals and #EnochCreeNation #PowWow this weekend. -
Hey, locals! Rosy Farms you-pick in Alcomdale (northwest of Edmonton) has SO MANY #HASKAPS! They’re just everywhere! You should go!

Would any locals enjoy making a trek out to Rosy Farms to pick #haskaps with me? I don't have a car, but would love to go at some point soon if someone else with a car feels like driving out there.
I would be willing to compensate you for my share of the gas in the form of either cash or haskaps. 😋 (And I'd mask in your car, of course.)
It's a great little farm and I can certainly vouch for the deliciousness of their haskaps!
