  1. Another fun recording of @gamesatwork_biz with my friends @andypiper and @michaelmartine - Tomorrow is Show edit day (after a little @twostraws #hackingWithSwift session) and then show notes by Michael M. on Sunday for your normal Monday listening! #lifeAsA #podcaster

  2. Yep, having way too much fun with design fuckery, lol. Literally just times tables, but wheee. #HackingWithSwift @twostraws

  3. Such an awesome session today with #hackingwithSwift and @twostraws -- lovely way to stay inside on a miserably hot Saturday!

  4. Another Fantastic HWS+ Session today! I've been frustrated over the years with getting information from AppStore Connect. Today's sessions makes it so easy to dig thru reviews and more, with local code, on my machine. @twostraws you rock! #swift #hackingwithswift #macos

  5. Just submitted a new App to the AppStore for review! Was doing this month's #hackingWithSwift session, and was inspired to improve it a bit and try to get a new app out in less than 24 hours. Well I missed it by a few hours, but am hoping app review is kind! The app allows you to load your localization strings from Xcode and translate them to a bunch of Apple supported languages. #developer #swiftui #macos

I already have a few ideas for version 1.1

  6. I am going to go through all remaining 21 #HackingWithSwift Plus (@twostraws) live stream videos before Xmas. I already watched 5 of them.

  7. Okay, I’m very new to Swift/SwiftUI, so it hasn't sunk in yet why I get an error when assigning a value to a State variable on my View. (See attached screenshot with a simplified example.) The error message is “Type ‘()’ cannot conform to ‘View’”.

I understand *what* it's telling me, but I don't know how to fix it. The value I'm calculating is not shown immediately, but will be displayed later in a Text view after the user taps a button.

  8. I’m having fun learning #Swift and #SwiftUI, but my brain is still broken by the concept that everything is determined by state. State is everything. An app doesn't just wait for input, and then update its view after a user takes some action. The view is refreshed the moment anything changes.

This was reinforced while writing an app to practice multiplication. I couldn't figure out why the prompt changed with every typed digit. Then I remembered. State, man. State. 🙂

  9. Ok, only one more session of #HackingWithSwift Live 2023 to go thru… @twostraws - you are amazing! Definitely worth the price. I even ended up changing some of my own code, and creating a Bug report for a new feature on the @Observable Macro! So excited to get thru these sessions.

  10. Ready for some programming learning… Doing another great #hackingwithswift plus session today with @twostraws — highly recommended

  11. Since I am not the best at waiting for things, my #SundayFunday project was playing around in #Xcode and looking for a course in #Swift. I found #HackingWithSwift and completed Day 0 and Day 1 just for fun. I'm not really sure if this was a smart move since now I am even more eager to learn Swift. Especially since the beginning of a new language is always in neat little lessons and my timeline is pretty packed these days. media.giphy.com/media/Uf0gb4aM

  12. My first app is live in the Apple App Store. It’s taken a good few months studying and coding but I did it.

I have a few UI issues to improve upon and a few tweaks here and there need making but still very proud to have produced an actual product.

  13. #hackingwithswift I am so happy I finished Project5, the anagram game.

Things are getting really interesting now.
The hardest part is to be consistent and do some work each day.

  14. I’m planning to submit my first app to the App Store for review this weekend.

Many thanks to @twostraws for his excellent #100DaysOfSwiftUI course and also to everyone who has offered their advice and time on the #hackingwithswift forums.

Fingers crossed it gets through the review process ok!

  15. If you are learning #Swiftui you owe it to yourself to follow #HackingWithSwift by @twostraws Paul Hudson. And he’s relaunching Ultimate Portfolio App lessons. I did these and enjoyed learning via Paul’s videos.

  20. On Friday my 13 years old son has finished #HackingWithSwift #100DaysOfSwiftUI by @twostraws with score 86/100 (earlier this year he also finished 100DaysOfSwift) Next steps I guess it will be updated Hacking with macOS book or maybe the new one about SwiftUI.
Also he is also getting into basics of game dev with Unity and C#.
He doesn't have account on Mastodon yet ;)
