Potential bright #comet #c2023A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS) just *might* light up our skies in mid-October 2024 if it survives a close spin around our star. Like the #GreenComet, we do try to lower expectations, but we're always excited to see a new comet!

I got a *slightly better* shot of the green comet on Monday night (my last night in St Maarten), shooting as soon as the sky got dark & before the just-past-full moon came up. (3 seconds @ ISO 1600.) I call this one "Unambiguous Splotch of Pixels." ;) (Still couldn't see it with binoculars; d'oh!) #comet #cometZTF #greencomet

The green 50,000-year #comet, in all its glory: (#greencomet #CometZTF)

It doesn’t look like much, and it won’t go in my astrophotography showcase, but hey! It’s a photo of everyone’s favorite #GreenComet from in urban backyard with lots of light pollution. Going back out tomorrow to a much darker location and my camera will be happier and warmer. Very easy to spot with binoculars!

Does anyone on the east coast know where to look for the #GreenComet in the night sky? I'm in #newjersey and have a lot of light pollution so I may not be able to find it without my scope

Finally got a view of #comet C/2022E3 (ZTF)! Only had a few minutes before the clouds rolled in (again).
Still much processing to do though.
This is 27 x 3 second exposures with a Nikon Z50 with a 300mm lens on a tripod (no star tracker).
I *really* need a better setup for #astrophotography.

This is my best photo of Comet C/2022 E3. This green comet passed Earth for the first time in 50,000 years. It was last visible in the night sky during the Stone Age. 48,000 b.c.e.

But we have had gray skies forever (of course right?).
