"Green Party of Canada #gpc23 policy workshop. Sorted by comments. Good lord, you should see the private messages and emails I get. If you're in GPC this is a thing you do NOT want to miss. Green Party of Canada WILL cease to be anti-nuclear in 2023."

Parties are here today, gone tomorrow, and are not entitled to the votes of specific constituencies.

One of the things discussed at #GPC23 last weekend was bullying of local Green parties by Labour folk fearful of *their* votes being taken by Green candidates. The Green Party shouldn't exist, we are told repeatedly, as the *progressive* vote apparently *belongs* to Labour.

  3. Green Party conference now looking at AI and the need for democratic regulation. Highlighting benefits as well as downsides. Very detailed motion.

Addendum: a (wrecking) motion to refer back, put by opponents of all AI/machine learning, was defeated.

  4. Wales Green Party leader Anthony Slaughter speaking now at conference about the evolving political situation in the country, and the need for independence.

Araith ardderchog. Annibyniaeth i Gymru, ag ystyr!

  5. For my sins I have been elected deputy convenor of the Green Party's European Policy Working Group.

The EPWG is responsible for drafting policy on the EU, Brexit, and other European matters.

My most recent contribution was to co-write the party's election manifesto section on Europe.

    It is the heisse Scheisse!

  6. Back to Green Party conference, and a fringe session "Our shared commons - from land to sea", with guest speakers naturalist Nadia Shaikh and economist Guy Standing.

An important point made by Standing is that the very idea of a 'tragedy of the commons' is an ahistorical nonsense.

  7. Zac Polanski talks of the value of trade unions, and the cost of living crisis being a cost of inequality crisis.

  8. Green Party deputy leader Zac Polanski speaking now at conference. He talks of identity, or rather the complex tapestry of identities that make up individuals and communities.

    Well said, Zac!

  9. Green Party conference is hybrid in-room/online, and, despite some teething issues with online voting on amendments from the floor, it's working pretty well even in the first plenary session.

The chairing of this technical session is very good.

  10. As a slogan, "No new oil and gas" is like "Brexit means Brexit", only it actually means something.

  11. Stonking leaders' speech at Green Party conference, following a warm-up from Caroline Lucas MP and her hopeful successor in Brighton, Sian Berry.

  12. I’m really excited to be in Brighton for Green Party Conference. We have a very busy schedule, but I’m particularly excited about our motion on AI. If this motion passes, the Greens will be leading the way on this issue. #GPC23 greenworld.org.uk/article/how-

  13. The time to argue against HS2 is over.
The time to argue for making the best use of HS2 is now.

I’ll be voting for this motion at conference later.

I urge #GPC23 to support motion E05 to fund HS2 and Northern Powerhouse Rail.
I used to be very against HS2, but we need to work with the reality we live in where it's now half built. The UK needs high speed rail and it doesn't make sense for Greens to say "ye…
