Stan Getz & João Gilberto - Getz/Gilberto #2
How do you get to Carnegie Hall? I guess have one of the best selling Jazz albums of all time…
There are basically two sets here, the first being Getz and the second being Gilberto, recorded live in October 1964, after the first hit.
Regardless of whether Bossa Nova had "peaked” back then, it's faded now and this is a great listen.

Stan Getz and Astrud Gilberto - Getz au Go Go
This live recording from the Cafe au Go Go in Greenwich Village may be late in Getz's Bossa Nova series, but it's fantastic. The songs and performances are great, and the sound is very "you-are-there".
I'd been hunting for a good copy for a while, this came up at Darkside Records for cheap, and it's flawless. Kudos to people who took care of their old records! The future appreciates you!

Almost at the end of consuming pretty much everything ever written about #GetzGilberto and working on an FAQ to address as many of the issues I can about Astrud Gilberto's involvement in the recording and post recording period. I've got a stem for her vocal, it sounds so different alone, isolated.
Reading Maggin's book on Getz though is harrowing. What a mess that period was.

Sunlight streaming through the window, & I’m writing & #NowListening to #GetzGilberto by #StanGetz and #JoaoGilberto.
Latin #Jazz generally isn’t my thing (although I really, really enjoy #Afro by #CharlieParker - if that qualifies). However, this album has a vibe which is nigh on irresistible: great musicianship, melodic, iconic vocals & it grooves throughout.
This is the reissue by #AnalogueProductions, cut at 45 by #GeorgeMarino & it sounds incredible.
