I was taking pictures of wildflowers at about 8000 feet in the Wasatch Mountains when this butterfly landed on it.
I'm not an expert but Google says it's a Fritillary.

Face to face with the Marsh #Fritillary. Not the angle at which you usually see this beautiful #Butterfly in photos, but this one presented me with the opportunity for a ‘head-on’ portrait so I went with it (and I rather like the result)! Another shot from my visit to the Butterfly Conservation reserves at Prestbury Hill in #Gloucestershire last month.

The weaver's #fritillary #Boloria #dia (#Nymphalidae, #Lepidoptera), is #endangered in #Germany ( #IUCN Red List). It's distribution area is Europe up to Mongolia. Pictured here is an individual from North Berlin (2019). The butterfly occurs on #drygrassland, the caterpillars develop on violets, blackberries or Prunella vulgaris. The fritillary flies in Germany in two generations per year. #biodiversity

On a holiday in the #Dolomites and very happy to see large numbers of insects like this #fritillary #butterfly. For the most part they're feeding on plants that are the same or very similar to those found in the UK, yet so far this year numbers at home seem to be drastically reduced. Something is clearly going very, very wrong with the management of the UK countryside. #insectsmatter #biodiversity #insectmageddon #stopneonics

A super Small Pearl-bordered #Fritillary at South Stack, #Anglesey, at the beginning of this month. I missed photographing this one when it first appeared, at a spot close to the clifftops, but Rob and I returned later - and so did the #butterfly!

This Great Spangled fritillary was a nice little treat to see in the garden the other day. I see lots of monarchs, swallowtail, and cabbage moths but these are a bit rarer of a sighting.

This Pearl Crescent butterfly's beautiful orange and black wings matched the sulfur #cosmo on the right so perfectly, I was lucky to snap off a shot before it flitted to the yellow cosmo on the right.
