You may have noticed that some Minecraft mods on #CurseForge had been compromised. (old news, I know)

I was updating some mods at the beginning of May, so I could have been infected as I updated "When Dungeons Arise" which was initially found to be compromised. Luckly I pulled this update from @modrinth which had saved me from this #malware dubbed as #fractureiser.

🚨 Let this be your reminder to be careful even if you get updates from trusted sources. However I understand that this can be tedious and hard. I also failed to do so.

I just hope that the modding community learns from this and develops good verification methods.

#CurseForge has announced that they have removed all infected files and banned malicious accounts.

#Modrinth have also just confirmed that after a long scan all mod files uploaded in the last 3 years are clean from the #Fractureiser trojan.

This doesn't mean that everything is clean from other types of viruses, so always use caution when downloading mods.

Man, this whole #fractureiser business has some interesting timing. Not only was I just recently getting into John Hammond's videos about reverse-engineering some very similar malware (cool and good) but I was also literally just in talks with several friends about setting up modded Minecraft collabs which are now going to be security concerns (bad and depressing!)...
