If anyone has any idea why some #Curseforge #Minecraft #modpacks are not available in the @PrismLauncher, I'd very much like to know the reason.
Makes it much harder to keep a pack updated or prettyfied on the launch menu...
Most recent pack not available, and by not available I mean I can search and find the pack, but it shows as "No version is available!" on the drop-down menu, is Mr. Beardstone's Create Perfect World Post Production.
If anyone has any idea why this happens, I'm all ears.

Coming from programming language ecosystems where dependency management is a.. well.. solved problem, mostly, I'll say that managing mods for #minecraft is extremely annoying 😭
Even when using something like #CurseForge, where (if you're lucky) mod X will bring in mod Y if it needs to, the dependencies between a version of mod X and the corresponding valid version of mod Y seem to be nonexistent..

Finally fixed my #PopOS install over the weekend. Setup #UseBottles and used the built in to install Battlenet and #WorldOfWarcraft and #Curseforge. Was a little impressed to find out Curseforge has a Linux client. It's limited to WoW and doesn't find the install on scan but once setup manually works like a charm.

Nooooo this is annoying. I maintain a #StardewValley mod manager for myself/household which besides maintaining mods/modpacks, supports installing/dynamically updating the latest #SMAPI version which it fetches from #GitHub. No longer possible though because (not immediately at least) SMAPI no longer publish their releases on GH due to size constraints, and are now only available from #NexusMods or #CurseForge - both of which I don't think has a static download link, esp not one that could be dynamically determined whether its the latest version. I'll prolly have to include the installer manually now in my project, like I do mods.
Update: yeah certainly not possible. Previously on GH it was easy to script by just checking what the latest version is (through the GH releases' API), then use it in the consistent download link which varies only from the release's tag/version.
From my checking, CurseForge is a bit better than NexusMods in 2 ways for this purpose - one, it does not require an account to download files (Nexus does), and two, the download link is static (Nexus only generates temporary download links I believe). However, it's not that it's usable either without manual intervention, since the variable in the download link isn't the file's tag/version but just an incremental unique number that's ofc, impossible (or rather, pointless) to track.
I guess my options are either to bundle the SMAPI installer into my mods manager, or hardcode the variable part of the link to download SMAPI from CurseForge. I guess the latter's slightly better from a space saving perspective.

CurseForge's API had nothing to do with it. Firstly, please note that "Forge Mod Loader" and "CurseForge" are two entirely different entities, please. There's a reason CF isn't in the position to employ anything functional in terms of enforcing things like code signing and whatnot -- the base infra for MC modding is kind of a shitshow with non-deterministic builds and weird dependency fetching. This kind of shit would have, and could have, happened on Modrinth, but fractureiser targeted the more popular website, for incredibly obvious reasons.Anyways, fracturiser C&C server is still down to this day and all the major distros have detectors for fracturiser malware now. It's old news. Stop being so smug about it, and maybe help out if it's such an easy problem to you.

I am incredibly frustrated and fed up with CurseForge and everything associated with it.
Recently, I decided to take action by submitting a ticket on the Twitch website, requesting the removal of my data from CurseForge. This was prompted by the CurseForge website, which explicitly instructed me to address this matter through Twitch. However, to my dismay, Twitch informed me that CurseForge was acquired by Fandom/Wikia in 2019 and advised me to reach out to them for data removal. Trusting their guidance, I promptly wrote an email to Fandom, only to be met with their denial of ownership or management of CurseForge. They redirected me back to the very same page on CurseForge that initially directed me to Twitch for data management.
This infuriating situation highlights precisely why we need the implementation and enforcement of GDPR regulations. The contradictory information, lack of accountability, and the endless loop of redirection is exasperating and emphasizes the importance of protecting our data and privacy rights.

@cai_tan well, #CurseForge could exercise more due diligence and yes they could make devs sign their binaries and only accept those as well as utilize MFA, but I guess doing what every payment processor has to do since #PSD2 & #3Dsecure is too much to ask.
It kinda conforms my bias against mod managers to some extent tho, even if that's more of a feeling when in most cases, they have good reasons to exist.
