I usually use Vim for writing code or markdown files. However, when I want to focus more, especially on writing projects (like for @sillon_fictionnel), I recently discovered #FocusWriter. It’s a great tool for writing in focus mode! I love the idea of highlighting text per sentence or paragraph.

I usually use Vim for writing code or markdown files. However, when I want to focus more, especially on writing projects (like for @sillon_fictionnel), I recently discovered #FocusWriter. It’s a great tool for writing in focus mode! I love the idea of highlighting text per sentence or paragraph.

FocusWriter kept crashing on my Linux Mint laptop, so last night I reinstalled using the Flatpak version. After testing it for a while, I'm confident the crashes are gone!

If you need a distraction-free word processor that lets you customize background and font colors, I don't know of anything better for Windows or Linux. I chose amber text on a black background - just like my beloved first monitor. :)

It puts me in the mood to string words together. #FocusWriter

I've found the minimalist word processor I've been looking for. It can be configured in various themes: I'm using a solid black background with amber text. It's very much like writing on my old monochrome display back in college!

It can be configured to run in a window or (by default) full-screen, runs on Windows and Linux, and can save docs in the LIbreOffice document format as well as text. Oh, and it's free. #FocusWriter

Do you recommend any #distractionFree writing #software ?

Today a friend suggested that it might be easier for me to write on the keyboard instead with a pen. Normally I'm trying to keep away from the screen (my day job is programming), but maybe I could find a good flow with a well designed application?

I know #focuswriter , #ghostwriter, #calmlywriter .

The point is to just write, I can manage a wiki / a graph of notes separately.

I used to think minimal, distraction-free writing in #GNULinux couldn't get better than #FocusWriter, but this weekend I discovered the power of #Vim and its potential as a 'daily driver' for #writing as well as #coding. Currently putting some thoughts together for an upcoming #blog post on this subject.
