You are right to be suspicious of #Substack. Its most definitely a centralised tool, a weapon, it is a sort of #focusGroup in itself, and is able to surveil #MargaretAnnaAlice's readership and see how they respond to her, especially when we combine that with the fact that it is being also surveilled by a corporation #monopolising the internet, Cloud(G)lare, please pass on JeffCliff's study of Cloud(G)lare to her.We look forward to seeing her on fediverse!

Yes, apparently a lot of #PRManagers and #writers for #politicians know how to write to two audiences at the same time. It's really one of the most #dishonest of skills.
Most of the time it seems to revolve around saying as little as possible and repeating #focusGroup-tested three-word-slogans, but entire speeches can be written that mean different things to different people.

Going into the office to try to undertake a focus group with clients - I say try, they’re a chaotic bunch and last time it didn’t work out. Fingers crossed they’re amenable today! Someone on a podcast was talking about this #ManagedDemocracy.Its part of the reason we don't appreciate #streamingServices that learn what a person is watching — #advertisers can target people using #tropes they are familiar with from such #films and #television series they've watched.
Thus the citizen loses #freeThought.
Its been going on for such a long time though. Started in the 1970 with the #focusGroup and #pushPolling.
