Vor 1 Woche endete #FnF2022 mit einem Besuch im EU-Parlament in #Brüssel.
Deutschsprachige NGOs waren z.B. durch @[email protected], @[email protected], @[email protected], @[email protected] und uns gut vertreten.
An der Beteiligung der osteuropäischen Zivilgesellschaft müssen wir noch arbeiten.

Learning about #ChatControl at #fnf2022 was reminded of the story last month of a man whose google ac was shut down after he'd sent a medical photo of his son's groin to their doctor & an AI had flagged it as CSAM. Even after learning of its mistake Google refused to lift the ban https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2022/aug/22/google-csam-account-blocked.
#ChatControl is draft EU legislation with laudable goal of ending the sharing of CSAM – but has so many negative consequences & risks. On #fnf2022 I learned the word #TechnoSolutionism.
It means the reflex to try to solve any problem with technology, without questioning the assumption if every societal problem can be solved with technology.
There is, by the way, one very important side effect of this: Once we give a problem to a computer to solve, it’s suddenly not our problem any more. If it goes wrong, that’s a technicality now. A great way to deflect responsibility.

At @fnf #freedomnotfear #fnf2022 I encountered so many cool people fighting for our digital rights! Although a lot of it feels like an uphill battle, those people are actually making a difference.
If you have enough of shouting your frustration at social media and want to make a difference, there is a lot to be done.
So keep an eye out for #fnf2023 or have a look at https://edri.org/about-us/our-network/ for cool organizations near you which would certainly appreciate your help.

After an amazing #fnf2022, the program has now concluded. So many great civil society initiatives sharing their perspectives, planning actions & talking to MEPs. I'll be in Brussels a few days longer if anyone wants to have a chat and look forward to next year at #FreedomNotFear!

#FnF2022 participants were received by MEPs @echo_pbreyer and @ErnstCornelia at the European Parliament in Brussels today.
They introduced themselves and answered questions from their visitors. Both are asking for continued input from the #DigitalRights and #privacy community.
Smaller meetings with MEPs are held now.

On my way to visit the European Parliament with a delegation of #FreedomNotFear. After many amazing sessions on digital rights over the weekend we will talk to MEPs to make our voices heard and hear their perspectives.

Heute wird es bei #fnf2022 wahrscheinlich eine Session zu #Matrix. Da werde ich mich reinsetzen und die Ohren aufsperren. Und evt. diese Info reinreichen.
Wahrscheinlich wird auch das Thema #Metadatensparsamkeit angesprochen, verriet mir der Vortragende/Organisator.

Die Frage stelle ich mir auch schon länger.Also ich bin leider nicht bei der #FNF2022, aber ich hänge ja viel und vor allem in "Techi-Bubbles" rum und habe das Gefühl, dass wenn jetzt mal Veranstaltungen sind, der nicht männliche Anteil im Gegensatz zu vor der Pandemie gesunken ist.
Bin mal gespannt, ob und was unter deiner Frage noch so kommt.
