  1. Has anybody noticed that the #micropayment service #Flattr was shut down in January? Not me! I had a Flattr button on my first, self-programmed website. But as far as I remember I never received a donation via this system. Also #Kachingle, which was absolutely unknown in Germany, seems to have disappeared. #webdev

  2. Kaum jemand mag Abos, mich eingeschlossen. 100 % bezahlen, obwohl nur 1 % von Interesse ist? Begreife die Anbieter bis heute nicht. (*)

Merkwürdig ist jedoch, warum Dienste scheitern, die punktuelles Bezahlen ermöglichen? Nach #Flattr gibt nun auch #Blendle auf.

(* Kommt mir nicht, dass die ja 100 % Kosten haben!)

  3. I miss #yahoo #pipes. One of the first #nocode platforms. Querying websites and mashing data sources was genius. Yahoo had great developer tools and APIs. But it's gone. #ifttt couldn't replace it and I'm clicking away as soon as I see a menu item named "Pricing"[1], like here: pipes.digital/

[1] I want micropayments based on usage and no subscription-based models. #flattr was promising but never took off.

  4. @da so #librepay does attempt to ameliorate this by recommending larger payments over longer periods to reduce fees. They are also super transparent on where the costs go on their receipts but I agree micro-payments are still sub-optimal. I'll see how this goes but I'll reboot my #flattr account and at least check out the current state. I'm favoring regular subscriptions over "drive-by" tips because all the stuff I support is software which is an ongoing development.
