  1. Very excited that #FiberuaryChallenge has made it here! I did #fiberuary a couple of years ago and met some great people and saw lovely work here because of it.

Intro post from me - I’m London-based, always knitting and/ or sewing, with a bit of tapestry, embroidery, occasional weaving and mending on the side

  2. The plying's done, and this morning I wound the yarn into skeins so I can wash it. 8 ounces of three-ply yarn, 924 yards before washing. (The yarn will almost certainly floof and lose a few yards in the wash, which is desired. I'll re-measure when I wind it up to knit with.)

My next project will be a gradient spin.

  3. One of the kiddos wasn't interested in the board game that was going on, so I brought out the Pollywog and taught her to spin. She got the basics pretty quickly and went home with a little ball of her very own yarn.

What a great way to kick off #fiberuary! 🧶

  4. @jocelyn hi Jocelyn, I know you’ve got about a million tips now, so might be a bit overwhelmed! One thing I found was super-useful for getting to know more #knitting and #sewing friends here was to follow a few events too - great posts on #fiberuary #memademay and #fallfinishalong gave me some more ideas about who would be good to follow. All very seasonal, but I have found some fantastic people as a result, hope that you do too

  5. In this month's #WhaleboneStitchClub newsletter, we're talking about embroidered Tudor coifs, Hester Prynne, and the lipstick effect. Read on Patreon (you can even get a free trial!)

  6. Well… various sites said spin fine and ply for thickness… this may have been a little too fine 😳

It needs to dry before I attempt plying. Not sure whether to do 2, 3 or 4 ply though - nervous about rewinding this fine thread off onto weaving bobbins (or my wrist!)

Edit - should have said what it is - ramie!

  7. @kamikat @sewing I was wondering if #memademay was a thing over here too? I really enjoyed #fiberuary (which I think came from Instagram too?), would love to see everyone’s makes in the feed here in May

  8. Working my way thru this fantastic crochet book. Two animals completed, (fox and sheep), 18 animals to go. Lion is next. #cats #blackcats #MaineCoon #Crochet #fiberuary

  9. One for all of my @knitting #knitting #fiberuary friends! Susan Crawford’s excellent A Stitch in Time Vol 2 is being reissued, focussing on the most popular designs, with more inclusive sizing. If you love vintage knitting patterns (or lovely knitting books) I would highly recommend susancrawfordvintage.com/produ

  10. Closing out with my least ambitious #VisibleMending, I suppose, a single stitch torn on my dog's sweater. I find dog sweaters very freeing as a medium since my dog hates everything I put on her equally.

Having done one single stitch, more seemed to be called for, so I tried my first embroidery in perhaps twenty years. I suspect this is very indifferent embroidery, but it makes me happy! #Fiberuary

  11. The sleeping bag is ancient but my husband still likes to use it on the sofa while surfing the webs, so I patched it. Then I patched the patch because the fabric was shattering as I went along. Sometimes mending isn't about wisdom.

    forgot the tags! #Fiberuary #mending

  12. done!!! (save for end-weaving once it's blocked)

i started this sweater in july 2021 for a christmas gift lol

  13. I’m so close to finishing these socks! But I’m doing a K1P1 (with the K twisted) ribbing for the cuff, so I also really don’t enjoy knitting them at the moment. #knitting #FiberArts #Fiberuary
