"…for the past year I’ve been experimenting with a form of #socialmedia called #federatedwiki. And it’s radically changed how I think about online communication & collaboration.
…just imagine that instead of blogging and tweeting your experience you wiki’d it. And over time the wiki became a representation of things you knew, connected to other people’s wikis about things they knew.I’d like to introduce two different approaches to the Web: #TheGarden and #theStream."

Hi @Jermolene
Given the wiki-ness of #TiddlyWiki, is it a stretch to think of a #FederatedWiki of Tiddlywikis? Taking the liberty of CC'ing @k9ox 😀

I think something like a #FederatedWiki might be https://anagora.org/index by @[email protected], but I'm not very sure, and I don't think it federates via ActivityPub but rather it connects to it via a bot...
Haven't really looked much into it though... -
@trondhjort @marick @newcrafts @kentbeck I'm just wondering if we could use Ward's Federated Wiki for this: possibly writing this book together? #FedWiki #FederatedWiki @k9ox
We have some experience with supporting collective writing of books.

@t73fde Re: Namenskollisionen / #NameCollision.
The localhost #FederatedWiki server tells you if the page already exists. In case of a collision, the client decides what changes need to be made to the history (keyword: journal) to bring the page to the desired state. The history is kept so that earlier versions can be restored (keyword: replay).

@rgb Thanks, I didn't
have #MillerColumns in my vocabulary. Very useful. I used to love the #SmallTalk browser (until I tried larger projects), hadn't connected it. to the #MacOs #Finder (which I find baffling TBH) nor #FederatedWiki (which is not unexpected, in hindsight, given @k9ox background in Smalltalk). -

@rgb Last time I looked at #FederatedWiki, there were no farms. Looks like it's moving in the right direction!
Today, searching for "farm" on http://fed.wiki.org yields several hits but nothing that would guide a newcomer to a list of open farms for getting started.

Read this piece about the web as tending a garden versus bathing in a stream. Fittingly, I lost track of the toot it was in, while planting a seed in my private wiki... https://hapgood.us/2015/10/17/the-garden-and-the-stream-a-technopastoral/ Good description of #FederatedWiki although it leans more on the #wiki side than #federation. 'copies are good' and 'paragraph level forking' and then what?

@rgb I guess a standard #Wiki would be a better choice for a formal reviewing process. A common "source of truth" shared by everyone. But... that's really a question that should be explored empirically!
I really wish #FederatedWiki were easier to deploy, to encourage more people to explore its potential.

@neil I've looked at [https://anagora.org](anagora.org) and it seems interesting, but still a bit abstract for me, so I look forward to learning more about that.
In my travels down the digital garden rabbit hole I also came across #federatedwiki and found that fascinating.
There's been so many interesting ideas and things to read, I really need a digital garden to start working through and making sense of them all! 😉
