@[email protected] My favourite character whose name begins with R was not ready for the responsibility and has nothing but contempt for this court. Rodimus Prime, formerly Hot Rod, was my first Prime as a kid before I knew about his predecessor Optimus Prime. He has a lot of responsibility, his underlings squabble, he's never sure he can live up to the legacy of his much more famous and popular predecessor, and he has a cool red colour with yellow flame pattern. Pic on the left is because I realised I like both characters for almost identical reasons. Anyway, there're far less embarrassing choices, but I'm going with Rainbow Dash. A) She is a comedy gold mine, B) for the same reason she's a surprisingly compelling character. Rainbow Dash is a mix of skater bro cool shit archetypes who wants to be the equivalent of a fighter pilot or a superhero...while living in a G-rated storybook kingdom.

@ami_angelwings My #FavCharacterR has to be Riza Hawkeye. In a cast full of strong women, she stands out as a highlight even among them. Powerful, strong-willed, a deep sense of ethics, and she's individually competent but still fully a team player. She's just really well executed and she's a strong member of a really fantastic cast of characters.

I thought that picking an R for #FavCharacterR would be difficult and it was, until The One presented itself. Jason, Carrie, Tim, Damian, Stephanie, Duke, and Dick are the names their parents gave them, but all of them are Batman's kid soldiers in his war on crime, Robin. I like Robin because they are so in over their heads, but stare danger in the face and smile at it.

There's a lot of R characters to pick from, including a bunch of women from Final Fantasy alone: Rydia, Rosa, Rikku, Rinoa. Also Rally Vincent, Rebecca Chambers, etc but for dark!Ami reasons I feel compelled to pick for #FavCharacterR

Relena Peacecraft from Gundam Wing, first b/c GW was actually Sunrise's OG attempt to sell to girls & she's actually the protagonist, but ALSO b/c she's a low-key iconic messed up waifu.

Relena & Heero are Padme & Anakin if Padme was into it. Heero says he'll kill her & she's like "FUCKING HOT". Relena would love Heero to choke her to death. Relena wishes she was in Asuka's place except she thinks Shinji's a coward for not doing it on her face. She sees the Suletta Splat & is like DO IT AGAIN HARDER. Relena ran so Bella Swan could crawl.

Honorable mention: Ruri Tanigawa from Ruri Rocks. I found her very cute and well written/acted, but it was more of the whole show that enchanted me. I hope it actually gets some kids into science, I could tell the love the author has for the subject.

@ami_angelwings On today's #FavCharacterR I will go with Raistlin Majere, the High Mage from Dragonlance. The first time I heard about him was on a Dragonlance choose-your-own-adventure book that described the Test. I read it five times before conquering it.

From that day forward, I was hooked an followed the Heroes of the Lance and the aftermath only to discover that Raistlin evolved with the history.

also a consistently fun and funny character who grew into a really heartfelt role when they brought her back as an elderly woman in JSA

@ami_angelwings Ah, #FavCharacterR is so easy: Ryoko, erstwhile space pirate, daughter-of-sorts to a mad scientist who's secretly one of the three goddesses, leading competitor for the affections of the Tenchi that the show's title claims to have no need of.

I'm not saying Tenchi Muyo! is a great show. In fact, I only really recommend the first couple of OVA runs. But I adore Ryoko's character in those episodes and will always have a soft spot for her.

For #FavCharacterR I'm being corny and going with another Fate character (there are about a billion of them ok), Rin Tohsaka. She along with Asuka from Evangelion (also on this list) are probably the two most iconic tsundere characters in anime. She is standoffish because she is just a young girl whose family is gone and has to take on the mantle of representative of her mage family in the holy grail war. Oh also she is my banner on my profile.

Rin Shima from Yuru Camp has huge blue hair you can dress into cactuses or bears, a cool, unflappable attitude, top-notch camping skills, a Yamaha Vino, and a love of food. That was one of the earliest anime I watched, after Cowboy Bebop. What's not to like?
