1. Going through backlog in podcasts and had an old Changelog episode mentions the Free as in Freedom ( FaiF ) podcast. If you're interested in FLOSS licensing ( or FLOSS in general ) and haven't listened to FaiF you should grab the back catalog and listen to it

Changeloggers mentioned Karen having been on the show in the past

I episode down, two episodes added to queue :)

changelog.com/podcast/424 <-- FaiF mention

2. Just completed the book "Common Lisp: A Gentle Introduction to Symbolic Computation" 1990 editon!

Recently, 3 months ago I started learning the basic of Lisp (inspired by reading Free As in Freedom 2.0), installed Emacs, Slime, SBCL and continued learning whenever I got some time.

Although my choice of book/stuff may be obsolete however I feel the learning is quite meaningful. Hoping for implementing/experimenting it further to some practical recognizable task.

3. Have a look at the acronym I made for just for philosophical fun!

List Interactive Sapient Parenthesis

List Interpreted Smart Parenthesis

Btw, It's only two months I started learning / experimenting Common-Lisp (inspired by reading )

Did you like it? Or share yours!

4. @glitzersachen By the way, is not retro, it's metro!

(subst 'metro 'retro '(retro computing by LISP))

I recently started learning common Lisp (partially inspired by Free as in Freedom 2.0) and now feeling very enthusiastic to learn and experiment more and more!

5. FAQ time: Can I modify the GPL and make a modified license? "If you want to use our preamble in a modified license, please write to <[email protected]> for permission.[...]" Read the full answer at u.fsf.org/3ky #FAIF #freesoftware

9. Gunnar Wolf demonstrates his setup for presenting "Current challenges for the OpenPGP keyserver network. Is there a way forward?" at this year's #LibrePlanet Boost and share if you think this is a nice setup demonstrating a #FaiF stack!

10. I followed the #faif.us oggcast with the episode they made about (also) the phones, in preparation for the FOSDEM talk.

I wondered why they went from one extreme to the other: if Bradley can't use his perfectly-free phone, why not settle for something not as much free?

As this is a phone I'm going to use for a few months (and later: as a backup), I decided I don't want to spend too much effort on it. So what can I easily do?

11. @librelounge @emacsen health first, unless you can get John Oliver as a guest :)

I presumed you wouldn't get an episode out every week

Especially for a podcast that generally isn't time-sensitive, take appropriate local holidays and vacations

I appreciate your work and have learned from the result. Danke!

PS I hope the surgery goes well and there are bonus episodes of #FaiF for you to listen to while recuperating :)

12. GOOGLE LLC, Petitioner, v. ORACLE AMERICA,INC., Respondent. On Petition for a Writ of Certiorari to the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit

Dat title.
If I read supremecourt.gov/DocketPDF/18/ (PDF) correctly, it says what most software developers have been thinking about Google v Oracle.
I'm hoping #faifwill have the time to analyze it for us, and tell us what chance it has at making the Supreme Court review the case (and if that's even what this document means).

>> Oracle argues that Google also duplicated part of Java SE’s 'SSO' -- i.e., its logical hierarchy. ... Indeed, it suggests that Google was required to include duplicative Questions Presented that separately address the SSO. That is silly.
> OMG *so good*
Indeed. :-) libranet.de/display/0b6b25a8-1

13. @ahangarha started to answer, but really, check out what Bradley and Karen have to say, they're more knowledgeable than me

Also, I highly recommend the #FaiF #oggcast

14. Just finished listening to the Free as in Freedom podcast. Probably the first podcast I've listened to in over 2yrs. Some interesting ideas, not sure I agree with all of them.

15. @cwebber someday I'll make it to FOSSDEM

In the meantime I'll pretend they'll restart #FaiF in order to interview you there :)

16. @staticsafe Bradley's a major governance wonk ( I think Karen is too ), so check out the Software Freedom Conservancy and some of the projects under their umbrella

Also, listen to some old #FAIF oggcasts

17. Ehh, #Ubuntu seems less and less stable with time -- more and more weird crashes and hangups. Ubuntu, you used to be cool!

Anyway, looking for a rock-solid, stable, but not ancient (yes, we do use Debian... on the servers) #GNU / #Linux distribution for non-techies.

Suggestions welcome!
