Si están buscando un documento para entender cómo funciona la tecnología que une al Fediverso, este manual técnico editado por O'Reilly Media es la máxima referencia disponible. Su autor es uno de los creadores originales de este protocolo de comunicación abierta. El texto se publicó de forma oficial el 20 de septiembre de 2024 y sirve como una guía directa para comprender la estructura que permite conectar plataformas independientes como PeerTube, Mastodon o Pixelfed sin depender de servidores centralizados de grandes empresas. La obra explica cómo se manejan los datos bajo un modelo estandarizado para que cualquier persona pueda construir aplicaciones sociales capaces de enviar videos, audios o textos de un nodo a otro de forma libre.

A lo largo de sus capítulos, el autor desglosa el uso del formato Activity Streams 2.0, que es la base técnica donde se definen las acciones básicas de la red, como seguir a un canal, publicar un contenido o dar un me gusta. Aunque el libro está pensado para desarrolladores y programadores, la explicación mantiene un lenguaje directo que ayuda a entender cómo funcionan las bandejas de entrada y salida de los servidores distribuidos. Es un mapa exacto para comprender la arquitectura de la internet soberana y el funcionamiento de las redes descentralizadas actuales.

So... Has anyone on here actually talked with the people from the #SocialWebFoundation?

I can tell the #Mastodon Organization has, but #Threads is also listed there, while I don't see any other names that aren't some corporate entity. I'm all for groups that want to expand the #Fediverse, even for-profit ones, but it's a red flag when an organization that purports to be for a general movement doesn't have an open line of communication with rank-and-file server-runners and volunteers...

"status.net is a new microblogging service that lets anyone set up their own microblogging site, based on Laconica’s functionality. Clients can make private microblogging networks for use by a company or community, or public ones that interface with Twitter, Facebook, and other Laconica-based sites. Control Yourself is accepting applications from enterprises, marketing and publishing organizations, and Web communities to participate in their beta program for the platform they call “status-as-a-service.”
