I'm much more in favor of switching the whole globe to Swatch Internet Time than #EndDST. With the markets going token-based and 24hr it's not like the current system is even meeting our economic needs any longer. Give us all the same time and let us figure it out. I'd actually be interested to watch the cultural consequences unfold of every country being on the "same" time.

The extra hour of sleep tonight was nice… but this back and forth needs to end. It is unhealthy, even dangerous. Now that we are again in line with the sun on Standard time we need to return to this natural circadian rhythm permanently. No more changes. The US began daylight saving time (DST) yesterday.
Europe does not start DST until March 30.
So begins the 3 weeks of recurring meeting calendar collisions for teams spread across the US and EU who didn’t pin the meetings to UTC.

Timely reminder when communicating time zones:
The US east coast is now on EDT (Eastern Daylight Time)—not EST (Eastern Standard Time).
Use EDT when you mean NYC time—until it falls back to EST on November 2.
Several countries (Jamaica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru) and parts of countries (Mexico, Brasil) are always on EST because they do not observe daylight saving time.

@ScienceScholar Health benefits for early risers? Parties and Netflix for adults who can write their own schedules aren't health benefits. It also doesn't compare to increased school attendance and better academic performance for students who can only afford public schools that necessarily have government mandated start times.

Arizona has never used Daylight Savings Time. What if more individual states started opting out? I'd bet the resulting confusion would end DST nationwide the very next year.

The @EUCommission proposed ending DST in 2018. The EU Parliament passed it in 2019. The EU Council still must do its job.

I’ll add my voice to the chorus… daylight savings time SUCKS. I don’t care which direction the time changes. Why do we keep foung this to ourselves?
It’s disorienting. It’s disruptive. It’s dangerous. If we did those things to legislators it would be considered insurrectionist. Stop it!
