I found out today my dad has #emphysema.

Saw a post suggesting the #DavidLynch #emphysema news is an example of the failure of public health in managing #COVID.

But isn't it primarily a cautionary tale of the dangers of being a lifelong smoker? He even says right in the articles that "even a cold" would be very bad for him.

We're trying to convince Pharma there are drugs that will effect #COPD but decades of failed trails makes them very, very wary of drug development in that space.

The problem isn't the molecules, they probably have plenty of molecules that would affect COPD before it's diagnosed, it's the phenotypes they target in trials! #Emphysema is too damn late in the process for a lot of folks, probably most. Inflammation of the airways is the ticket.
