As I listen to the news of the recent global escalations, I pause from my glass of #duvel and my copy of Contact by #carlsagan to consider the following:
Sagan would be utterly disappointed by the state of our planet. Within Contact, he describes a planetary collaboration of unprecedented scale. The Soviets and the United States, along with many other nations, assemble to address a nascent phenomenon - the arrival of a message from another world.

Mag ik bierkenners en vooral de Belgische kenners een vraag stellen over #Duvel?
Ik drink graag een Duveltje. De gewone, klassieke van 8,5%. Bijna dagelijks, dus ik ken de smaak. (de Triple hop Citra drink ik ook graag, maar daar gaat dit niet over)Het is mij twee keer overkomen dat ik een doosje aantref met 4 x 330cl waarin meer CO2 zit. Dat doet de smaak geen goed.
Is dit een productiefoutje, of is er bier bedoeld voor een ander land terecht gekomen in NL?

First sip is delightful. The coriander mixes very well with the malt, and there's just a slight tart-bitter taste that finishes it off with a little complexity.

Ohhh mensen, ik kan rond deze tijd op de dag toch zo intens genieten van een Duveltje. Onze zuiderburen maken fantastische bieren. Er is veel te genieten.
Maar oh oh die Duvel. Bij Moortgat weten wat ze doen.(disclaimer: Ik heb geen zakelijk banden met de brouwerij of een leverancier. Ik heb er ook niet al veel te veel op vandaag, want ik drink er maximaal één op een dag, maar die proef ik dan ook intens!)

It's become a bit of a tradition for me to mark Saturday lunchtime by having a slightly "special" #beer. (I'm retired - Saturdays are just another day, but who cares?) I used to have a Boon #gueuze #lambic until #Waitrose stopped selling it. Then I switched to #Duvel 6.66 and now Waitrose have stopped selling that as well. Now I'm eating into my stocks of #Orval and other beer brought back from continental holidays.

As a reward for all this hard work I had a #Duvel #TripleHop beer with my dinner. I don't mind finishing off my small stash of them now as we're off to the continent in a few weeks time so I will be restocking the "cellar" soon.
