Weekend project: complete.
I’ve been wanting to totally overhaul my old iPod for years. Dead hard drive, dead battery, dead headphone jack, knackered case. Now it’s even better than it was when I bought it in 2006.
Personal music players peaked here… it’s just such a good device.

I was today days old when I learned that a person can use acetone to repair damage to plastic.
The other day, I sat on a pair of nice glasses, busting the metal hinge assembly sideways out of the plastic hole that held it. The nice lady at the optometrist’s office, who I thought could make any repair to glasses frames, shrugged and said, “Sorry.”
Poking around the inter webs, I think I’ve come up with a plan for fixing these damned things.
Use some acetone to close up the cracks, placing the hinge into the receiving hole right away and then exerting force around the receiving piece to close the cracks. Then (if I remember to put it into place before the above step) use heat shrink tubing the make a tight wrap around the repaired area.
Maybe, I’ll post a follow-up to let people know how horribly this attempt went.

ABB UNO inverter fixed for £40
E031 error (burned out relay)1 Hour well spent changing 4 relays. I took the opportunity to replace the CR2032 CMOS battery too as this unit is 8 years old.
Relieved to see it up and running again. I guess I'll know how long it's be out soon as I'm due to submit a reading today
