  3. Sumerian farmers cultivated early squash in Mesopotamia, laying the groundwork for today's courgettes, refined in 19th-century Italy. 🇮🇹 For a bountiful harvest, pick them young and often – this encourages more fruit! #Courgettes #GardeningTips

  5. Picked another zucchini. There's been a couple that weren't pollinated and didn't grow that I removed. The yellow ones are starting to make some fruit finally.

  7. Zucchini and Bell pepper update. There might be a pollinated zucchini, or courgette, now. The one that wasn't isn't soft so it stays on the plant for now. I've picked some sunburned peppers but others aren't so they continue to grow bigger. They need more basil and marigold shade from the sun! Yes, more basil in this bed.

  9. Première récolte de courgettes, coupée en tranches dans le sens de la longueur, huile d'olive, romarin, sel et au four, rien de plus (si, ail haché et paprika à la sortie du four)

  12. Thinking of growing courgettes? Soak the seeds overnight to soften their coats and speed up germination. Plant two seeds on their sides in each pot or hole. Once they sprout, keep the stronger seedling and pinch out the weaker one. This gives your plants the best start! #gardening #courgettes

  14. Harvesting courgettes at their peak is pure garden joy! 🌱 Pick them when they're about 6-8 inches long for the best flavor. Too big, and they turn into marrows—still tasty, but with a different vibe. Keep those plants productive by picking regularly! #GardenLife #Courgettes

  15. Today's harvest. #Jalapenos . Still getting #Courgettes . #CherryToms "Rubilicious" and #Tomatoes "Shirley". It's been a good year for toms. On 8 plants I've got three unripe green ones left. #GrowYourOwn #Allotment

  16. I've got a smallish suburban garden so I grow my fruit and veg in bags and pots. That doesn't mean a poor crop. It may be a bit more work to keep them watered but the results are worth it. Not shown is the 1kg of blackcurrant jam (already eaten!), lettuce, new potatoes (eaten) and chard. Still to come are beetroot, squash and apples. I also have basil, rosemary, mint, fennel, sage, thyme, oregano and wild garlic has moved into a small area. The taste of freshly picked homegrown can't be beaten. #HomeGrown #Vegetables #Tomatoes #Beans #Courgettes #Organic #Allotment
