  1. After having been abandoned for about 5 weeks, the most expensive tomatoes in the world (see above) have yielded untold bucketfuls of ripe cherry tomatoes. Arrived to found about a quarter of the harvest on the floor, lost: this year they’ve ripened earlier. Yet every day now I’m picking up more than enough for a dinner for 4, with prospects to continue to do so for several weeks going forward. Kilos and kilos, produced by about 52 plants, largely unwatered except by rain. The British truly mean something else by “drought”.

    An awful case of medical negligence at Addenbrooke's hospital in Cambridge led to the death of a baby. A routine vitamin K injection would have saved his life, but it wasn't given though it was recorded as done.
