The #Coomber schools #radio cassette pulls in the signal from #MidSuffolk even with just its internal #antenna (it does have to be in a particular part of the office to get any reception, but it works better than many modern receivers) #FM #VHF #BroadcastEngineering #CommunityRadio #Ipswich #Suffolk

for US folk, #Coomber is the UK equivalent of #Califone (they also made solid AV equipment for #schools that always looked a decade or two out of date) - in the case of Coomber (which lasted as an AV company until 2023) their managing director said this was deliberate, as when a school got burgled their equipment was often left alone as it was considered "too old" 😁

#Coomber PA #radio #cassette recorder arrived today - it has a 8" twin cone speaker (originally intended for #school assembly halls), tape deck still works and a bonus is preset #MW tuner has not just 693 and 909 KHz but 648 KHz (BBC World Service) so its perfect for #RadioCaroline

#sound is mono and not quite hifi (there's a bit of hiss), but a decent amount of volume.

Will make aux input cable for it tomorrow when my DIN plugs arrive (haven't soldered one for 30+ years!)
