  1. When every push delivers value, you don't need roadmaps, you need runway.

Continuous Delivery keeps the build ready to ship. Continuous Deployment ships it. No approval, no window, no CAB.

The pipeline is the easy part. The hard part is leadership giving up the signature.

  2. Turns out that not only do Actions runners come with jq preinstalled, but yq is there too.

    hollycummins.com/using-yq-in-g…

There was a featured snippet for “is yq available on GitHub actions,” which directed me to a marketplace installer. The yq project itself had a marketplace installer. Clearly, I needed to install it before using it. Right?

My colleague George Gastaldi looked at what I’d done, and pointed out yq was available on the runners. This matters, because we try and limit our use of external, ‘non-official’ actions, for supply chain security reasons.

So I searched again to confirm, and … still found very little. To actually confirm, I had to merge and experiment. And, indeed, the GitHub runners do come with yq pre-installed. They’ve had yq since 2021.

  20. Ship Software That Does Nothing

You should ship software that does nothing. Absolutely nothing. I'm not being cheeky about this. I have no hidden meaning. The very first thing you should deliver when you start a new web application is absolutely nothing. Many people will tell you to ship a minimum viable product. Others say to ship a prototype to get feedback. Not me. I think you should ship a blank page to your production servers on day one. […]

  24. Je ne suis pas d'Helm (je trouve que c'est rajouter une couche de complexité inutile à la complexité inutile de K8s). Heureusement, on peut tester les descripteurs qu'on génère grâce à ce plugin. 25. 🌟 The Ultimate Guide to DevOps: Unlocking Speed, Efficiency, and Innovation (With a Dash of Fun!)

The article uses relatable analogies, and even some DevOps-related jokes. It balances technical content with an approachable style, making it suitable for readers at different levels.

Overall, it's a good resource for those looking to understand and implement DevOps in their workflow.

  26. Actually, I was looking for something similar to use in a couple of @eleventy projects, @vanillaweb.

    I discovered that @Codeberg hosts @WoodpeckerCI, and provides CI/CD services 👀

There is a very instructive repository collecting examples, including one specifically for Eleventy! (I did not test it yet, though)

  31. Missed our recent LinkedIn live discussion on #ContinuousDeployment?

    We've got you covered!

    Here are five key takeaways:

1️⃣ Continuous deployment mitigates the risk of deploying changes by ensuring they are small, frequent, and easy to recover in case of any failure, providing swift feedback.

2️⃣ Teams engaged in continuous deployment face significantly less stress during deployments thanks to the process’s predictability and swift identification and handling of issues.

  32. A thought on #ContinuousDelivery vs #ContinuousDeployment. There's an argument that you can only achieve single-piece flow if you entirely automate the deployment pipeline.

That's not true because you can adhere to single-piece flow even with a manual process. It's a discipline, not a technology.
