Unfortunately due to tariffs we are not able to purchase more Compute Blades for our GreenWare project without paying 20% in import tariffs. As a state and federally tax exempt organization, it’s unfortunate that we are being taxed by our government. ☹️

My #HomeLab has grown way beyond the clean and simple setup from 1.5 years ago. Time to optimize — but let’s be real, a HomeLab is never done.

Another upgrade for the #Homelab: #3Dprinted a mount for the #ComputeBlade to get it onto the #IKEA #Skadis board. Simple, but solid for now!

First pass at 10” rack modular design derivative of Uptime Lab’s blade runner for #computeblade. I’ve got a few things to iron out before the blades arrive, airflow alignment, rear rack supports, and getting it printed in something better than PLA.

The #computeblade heatsink looks better sanded.
Looks unlikely I'll get the rest of my order, though. One of the blades is bad, too.

First #computeblade node deployed. Unfortunately I didn’t manage to get CoreOS running just yet. But at some point I‘ll manage! More to be deployed soon (need to get a PoE switch first 😬) #homelab #selfhosted #raspberrypi

On my everlasting quest to get rid of everything x86, I just ordered a #computeblade chassis, a RPI carrier & a RPI4 8GB compute module for testing. Looking forward to it, but sounds promising! https://computeblade.com

Just learned about this https://computeblade.com and their website aesthetic is excellent. #ComputeBlade

Ooh, almost forgot the important part.

I'm not much of a [ahem] fan of how the cooling is mounted. I'll have to wrap up those cables somehow, and the board just kind of sits there, mostly held in by the rubbery material on the fans.
-
Oh yeah baby that's the money shot.
-
Aww, the cm4 board has a little smile for me. Wait, what?
-
Sigh, metal shaving in the SSD screw post. Hadn't planned on all this machining.
-
Okay, back on my shit again. I found a 3mm tap, but not a bottoming tap so I'm just drilling the hole through first. It still doesn't quite line up but close enough for plastic I guess.
-
It looks like the holes are 2.50 mm for a 3mm screw, which would be perfect if I were tapping the hole. Now if I only could find my 3mm taps...
-
Also my expression when the holes for the clip don't line up.
-
My expression trying to figure out how the clips are attached.
-
The Kickstarter blades look pretty similar to the 0.9 version.
-
Holy crap, it's finally here! I was almost resigned to not get it.
