For #AI-enabled #MedicalDevices, being cleared or approved by the #US #FDA does not mean being tested on #PatientOutcomes:
1,357 AI medical devices cleared, 3 actually tested on patient outcomes

@plosdigihealth"Most studies (62%) employed #observational designs with small, homogenous #cohorts, limited #SubgroupAnalyses, and frequent exclusion of #VulnerablePopulations. Structural barriers (including misaligned financial incentives, reliance on predicate-based regulatory pathways, and logistical challenges of multi-center trials) discourage rigorous #evaluation. Internationally, FDA clearance often functions as a gateway for global #deployment, raising #ethical concerns when under-validated tools are introduced into low- and middle-income countries #LMIC without contextual #validation or #safeguards. Regulatory approval has outpaced clinical validation, creating an ecosystem where innovation advances without accountability."

More on female population estimates: a line graph of cohort vs a Lexis diagram (heatmap). The same info but curious how each makes the patterns partially clear in a different way. The linegraph gives a somewhat better picture by time, good by cohort when the patterns is clear but gets lost when they cross a lot. Lexis diagram makes cohort picture clearer: follow each row. But a little harder to see calendar time effects.

I'm looking at Irish population estimates (for a project on fertility) and this popped out. How female cohort size changes between 15-45, for cohorts from 1961. It tells quite a story.

Research finds that stress stemming from a stigmatized social status continues to lead to poorer health among LGBTQIA+ people, even for young cohorts in a more equal and accepting social climate.

@thenewoil Google just won't give up on pushing their cohort BS will they. And it's all under the guise of "security". In actuality it's more consolidation of power and invasion of privacy. What a crock of BS Google is.
