  1. I bought Children of Memory earlier this year and have just re-read the first two books in the Children of Time series then this one. Yeah, I liked Children of Memory a lot. Even if the philosophy of what it is to be human or even sentient felt layered on at times there was a lovely, dark thread to the confused, fractured lifetimes on the planet and a fair chunk of emotional anguish at some of the revelations.

  2. My neighborhood is cosplaying "Children of Memory"* - the grass is dying, the trees are losing all their needles, the other trees are dropping leaves like it was autumn.

    * It is a story about settlers on another planet & the ecosystem fails to stabilize & they all starve to death.

  3. Children of Memory was a disappointing book, but had a number of good short stories in it. Had this been a collection of short stories, I think I would have been happier with the final result. The gimmick/writing device was frustrating and came across as magical realism more than science fiction.

Like the movie Paprika, just go ahead and read the plot explainer ahead of time.

#ChildrenOfTime and #ChildrenOfRuin were well worth the high page count.

  4. Finally found some time to finish "Children of Memory", Adrian Tchaikovsky's latest "Children of Book" and I loved it.

I had no idea where it was going until the last act and then it just all fell into fantastic big-space-opera place.

  5. I'm reading 'Children of Memory' by Adrian Tchaikovsky.

If you're a fan of #scifi and like the sound of hyper evolved spiders and octopuses this one is for you.. Although start at the beginning of the trilogy with Children Of Time

    It's fantastic stuff

  6. "because she lived within a civilisation that had access to Octopus -conceived technology..."

Sentences which would likely be unusual in most novels, but seem perfectly normal in one by @aptshadow

  7. Adrian Tchaikovsky's Children of Memory, which I enjoyed, ended up being an interesting companion piece to Blindsight.
