Really hoping this book manages to achieve something other than a downbeat ending where the humans and spiders exterminate each other. But I think if it has to be one or the other I'm on Team Spider. The humans had their go and they fucked it up.

I'm so hyped for the fourth part of Adrian Tchaikovskys "Time" series, 'Children of Strife'. I'm currently on a re-listening of the audiobooks with the equally phenomenal speaker Mel Hudson.

As each book of the series was increasingly mind bending, I don't know what to expect from the next.

I just finished reading the 9 volumes of #TheExpanse by #JamesSACorey. I'd read the first 8 previously but decided to read them again before I read the final book. Great stuff, and I'm happy to be reading a bit after the pandemic where my reading dropped from nearly 60 books a year to not even a handful.

Was going to read the #ChildrenOfTime series by @aptshadow next but cannot find it in hardback for a reasonable price so I'll probably read #Semiosis by #SueBurke.

Children of Memory was a disappointing book, but had a number of good short stories in it. Had this been a collection of short stories, I think I would have been happier with the final result. The gimmick/writing device was frustrating and came across as magical realism more than science fiction.

Like the movie Paprika, just go ahead and read the plot explainer ahead of time.

#ChildrenOfTime and #ChildrenOfRuin were well worth the high page count.

Just finished #ChildrenOfRuin by #AdrianTchaikovsky! Very good book with a healthy combination of space opera & speculative evolution. A great follow up to #ChildrenOfTime. I'm excited to read the next one when I can get my hands on it!

I just finished book one of #TheCultureSeries, #ConsiderPhlebas by #IanMBanks and now I've started #ChildrenOfTime by #AdrianTchaikovsky.

I'm still evaluating Consider Phlebas. It's amazing world building & a rather intense plot, but it kinda lacks both philo & psycho depth IMHO. (The ending, though, is heart-rending to me.) But I do have book 2 coming and will continue the series.

Children of Time is starting out very interesting. Perhaps a bit more my taste. We'll see.
