I don't know enough about Japan and Jpop to say whether this is unusual, totally mainstream, or even a tired repetition of exhausted audiovisual tropes.

I do know that I found it agreeably quirky and will be saving it to my jpop playlist, even if I do not expect it to be amongst my most frequently played songs.
