  1. > It's a day in which (to quote a teaching) every person can accomplish something big. IMO, it's far better than high holidays - because it's a time of celebration, it's a time of joy.

For one last night, one last day: #HappyHanukkah. For year round, keep the celebrations going, because yes, who we are is worthy of nonstop celebration 🕎

  2. * Then there is Nittel/Kratzmach (also known as Christmas) tomorrow night, but more on that tomorrow.

  3. Okay, but is it even #Chanikah without a 🍩 eating photo?

I promise this isn't my first one for the holiday.
    As the Yiddish saying goes:
Why do we eat #donuts on #Chanukah?
Because you eat them one say, and they burn your stomach for 8 🤣

  4. 🎵 On the fourth night of #Hanukkah 🎶

    We made cheese #latkes!

    I used:
    7.5 oz farmer's cheese
    1 oz goat cheese
    1/2 cup all purpose flour
    1/2 cup sugar
    2.5 tablespoon sour cream
    3 (medium size) eggs
    Mix well, and fry away!

Happy and tasty #Chanukah you all 🕎❤

Do try at home, but please, be careful of oil burns, especially when flipping the latkes!

Oil is nice and all on #Chanikah, but oil burns aren't tradition (well, shouldn't be 🤷‍♀️).

  5. Late night arrival, exhausted and all, but A Freilichen #Chanikah from my travel Menorah. #HappyHanukkah from Washington, DC 🕎

  6. So, were we the only people who made a pretty big deal of having cheesecake* on #Hanukkah?!

On the Jewish internet it feels like only Shavous is cheesecake holiday. As a child #Chanikah was definitely one as well.

And with a few Lactaid pills, I love me another dairy Yom Tov.

  7. PSA: I hate the "#Chanikah is just a minor holiday" takes.

I get it, it's not biblical, say that.

Growing up in a community, arguably least (albeit still) influenced by "American culture" - #Hanukkah was a very big goliday, in every way.

Also get that some are bothered by its commercialization, and seeming influence by #Kratzmach.

Yet, minimizing a beautiful holiday, historically, culturally, spiritually, and all out fun - feels just as much giving in to the "dominant" culture.
