  5. Happy Hanukkah ✨🕎

Tonight I stepped way outside my comfort zone and went LIVE — on IG, FB, and YouTube at the same time — all to light the 7th Hanukkah candle.

Hanukkah is about bringing light, even when it feels a little uncomfortable… and this moment felt too meaningful not to share.

If you couldn’t join live, here’s the recording. May it add a little more light, warmth, and joy to your Hanukkah. 💙✨

  6. This Hanukkah, I’m lighting candles with open eyes.

Jewish culture is built on light, goodness, and repairing the world:
    Tikun Olam. Peace. Love. Light.

But every Jewish person alive today exists because our ancestors survived persecution.
    Every generation. Every place.

Light alone didn’t keep us alive.

Peace is possible because someone stands in the shadows to protect it.

    I served in the IDF.
My husband served as a police sergeant in the USA.
Not by preference — by necessity.

Because of people like those who serve, I get to teach, build, and spread light.

    We need both:
    Those who spread light
    And those who protect it.

    This Hanukkah, I honor both.

    Shabbat Shalom 💙
    חֲנֻכָּה שָׁקֵט וּבָטוּחַ

  7. Obviously, we can’t forget to wish all of our Jewish friends a #HappyHanukkah so here’s the #SNL TV Funhouse classic “Christmastime for the Jews” (youtu.be/BGzO1ghRKp4?si=dKyURx) You can read the oral history behind this here (uproxx.com/tv/christmastime-fo)

  8. Seeing a Hanukkiah and a dreidel glowing in the heart of a Christmas holiday lights festival stopped me in my tracks.

So far from Israel. In a world where Jewish people are being hunted in the streets. After days of feeling shattered, angry, and unmoored.

    And then—there they were.

Two ancient symbols calling to my heart and soul, reminding me who we are.

I felt the cry of resilience echo through our entire story. A people who rise. A people who endure. A people held together by faith, memory, and community.

In that moment, I felt the earth beneath my feet again. The darkness loosened its grip. The light returned.

This is what community does in the face of evil and hate. This is how despair becomes eternal light.

  9. This week, I’m sharing the light you sent in - from an invitation I shared with my email community, and open to Everyone.

Photos, places, moments, and messages that represent the light you want more of in the world - no matter where you’re from or what you celebrate.

Every day, a few more lights.
    From different places.
    Different people.
    One shared intention. 🤍

Thank you for being part of this.
    More tomorrow ✨

  11. Maybe a touch too brown on top, but I'm so happy with how this 6-strand braid came out 😍

  12. Musical Interlude: I've posted this before, but I love it. This goes out to all honoring the Festival of Lights; I've had friends tell me that this is indeed what it's all about for them.

"Light the Lamp," performed by Emily Kurn.

  13. Still thinking about the Menorah we rescued from a garage sale, because there were people there who said "What a cute mini candelabra."

Wishing all who celebrate: a safe, meaningful, thoughtful, and joyous Hanukkah.

  14. Double #Hanukkah in our windows, cluttered windowsills and all. Found the wacky circular menorah on the right at an estate sale. Must have been someone’s art project. #HappyHanukkah, #ChagSameach to all who celebrate and in memory of the #BondiBeach, #BrownUniversity, and all other #gunmassacre victims. #Jewish #menorah #candles

  15. ✅ Banana bread (had to be done to use of some iffy lookin' bananas)

In Progress: Challah (I did a 6 strand version that is on rise 2)

Next Up: Latkes! (I am going to make a sweet-potato version along with the standard potato -- anyone done this before and have any tips??)

    Happy Hanukkah (almost)!

  17. Happy Hanukkah to all those celebrating over the coming days!

Edit: This post was scheduled in advance before we knew about the tragedy on Bondi Beach. We did not mean to cause offence by posting without acknowledging it. Our thoughts are with those directly affected by the tragedy and Jewish communities worldwide.
