What Planet Are You From!?
Your friend just told you pineapple belongs in coffee or your coworker says Mondays are their favorite day.
There's a Hebrew phrase made for exactly this moment. Half eye roll, half laugh, all love.
I'm teaching you how to say it so it lands as a joke, not an insult.
Who's the first person you're saying it to? 😄
The word antisemitism was made popular by a man who hated Jews.
He wanted a respectable new name for an old hatred.
Three years after October 7, that hatred has a new name again.
Four Hebrew words tell you exactly what's going on.
My October 7 video is live.
That moment. When a stream of sound suddenly breaks apart into words and your brain answers before you've even had time to think. Syinyi calls it a tiny proud moment. I don't think there is anything tiny about it. It's the moment Hebrew stops being noise and starts being language! Once it happens, it keeps happening.
Thank you for sharing this with me, Syinyi 💙
When you're ready for a moment like this of your own, that's what I built Practically Speaking Hebrew for.

Today we enter the month of Elul.
The last month of the Hebrew year. The one that walks us to the door of the new one.
Most people think of Elul as a month of accounting. Looking back. Adding up what you did and what you didn't.
But that is not the case here. And it's all in the name.
Tradition reads the four letters of Elul אלול as the opening of a line from Song of Songs. I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine אֲנִי לְדוֹדִי וְדוֹדִי לִי /a-'nee le-do-'dee ve-do-'dee lee/
The last month of the year is named after a love song.
That's not an accident.
That's the lesson of this month.
Because before you look back at your year, Elul tells you the order to do it in. Not from a list of everything you got wrong. From a place of love. Both for the people around you, and for yourself.
You can be honest about your year and still be gentle.
So this Elul, when you sit down to take stock, start where the month starts. With love.

I sped this up so I could fit everything inside “Practically Speaking Hebrew” into one video. But the one thing I forgot to say is the thing that matters most.
You get me. Not just feedback on your speaking. Any question you have about Hebrew, forever. Next month or three years from now, you ask and I answer, right inside the program.
Press play and see the rest.

Somewhere along the way, most of us stopped treating learning as an adventure and started treating it as a performance.
Children don’t ask, “What if I sound silly?” They don’t wait until they know every rule before they speak. They experiment. They laugh. They make mistakes. Then they try again. Every attempt moves them forward.
Adults often do the opposite.
We convince ourselves we need to know more before we begin. We worry about pronunciation. We overthink every sentence. We stay silent because silence feels safer than getting it wrong.
But language has never belonged to the fearless. It belongs to the willing.
That is why I teach Hebrew differently.
Inside Practically Speaking Hebrew, I don’t expect perfection. I expect participation. I want you speaking from the very beginning.

Here is an interview I was so happy to be a part of:
Watch and learn more about my story, how Hebrew by Inbal came to be and the passion that fuels it.
Learning Hebrew is not just memorizing words. It is learning how another people feel, think, connect, argue, bless, mourn, celebrate, and love.
Somewhere along the journey, you stop simply converting language and begin expanding your understanding of the world itself.
That is when Hebrew truly starts to live inside you 💙

You can manage. But you're not here to manage.
You can get by in Israel without Hebrew. Nobody will stop you.
But you're not here to manage.
You're here because Hebrew means something to you. And that connection - firsthand, unfiltered, not through translation is completely different from anything you've felt before.
When you're ready for that:

Wall 4: You don't have all the words. Nobody does.
Language is an ocean. The smart way isn't to collect words. It's to learn how to construct sentences so you can say more while you learn relatively less.
Words you can look up. You can't look up grammar and syntax on the fly in the middle of a real conversation.
Structure first.
Words are what you keep adding for the rest of your life. That's how Practically Speaking Hebrew is built.

So happy to have been invited by Sylvia into her community to discuss my passion, sharing Hebrew 🤗
I invite you to watch and learn more about me!
That is why learning Hebrew is never just about memorizing words.
Every phrase carries memory.
Every expression carries history.
Every conversation carries the heartbeat of a people who have loved, wandered, survived, rebuilt, and come home for thousands of years.
At Hebrew By Inbal, I do not simply want you to study Hebrew.
I want you to feel connected to the people, culture, and soul living inside the language ❤️
This week Shavuot and Shabbat arrive as one.
And I love this holiday for so many reasons.
But maybe the one I love most is how differently it lives in different people.
Ask people what is Shavuot about.
Some will tell you it's cheesecake and pashtida - a savory quiche.
For others it is entirely about the Torah. The receiving of it. What that means. What it asks of us.
For some it is about the land. The first fruits. The harvest. The most ancient, grounded version of this holiday that connects us to something we can hold in our hands.
And for others it is a time of something quieter and more internal - tikkun, repair. Of the self. Of the world.
Same holiday. So many ways to live inside it.
I think that says something beautiful about us as a people.
That we can each find our own door into the same moment and walk through it in a way that is completely ours.

One of the questions I get asked all the time is: “Why don’t you teach Hebrew over Zoom classes?”
Not every method works equally well for language learning and over the years I’ve become very intentional about what actually helps English speakers learn, retain, and confidently use Hebrew in real life.
If you’ve ever struggled with language classes, felt overwhelmed, or wondered why some methods work better than others, come explore hebrewbyinbal.com ❤️
