"A #Melbourne #Greek #restaurant has rejected online hate and a #bomb threat after hosting a joint #Jewish-Greek cultural evening.
On #Facebook, the owner insists it will keep bringing the communities together. Last Friday the #MediterraneanGreekTavern in #Elsternwick staged a night that mixed the two traditions.
Guests dressed in white, #challah sat beside Greek dishes, prayers were said, and a #bouzouki band played #HavaNagila alongside music from #ZorbatheGreek.
The dinner marked six months of #Shabbat Club #Australia.

Earlier nights have been held at other Melbourne spots. Friday’s larger gathering had a long waiting list.
The next day the restaurant posted warmly about the young crowd. Supportive replies came first, then a surge of abuse via #socialmedia.
Commenters called the hosts sell-outs, accused them of supporting “#genocide killers,” urged that #Jews be #deported, and one reportedly openly called for the tavern to be #bombed."

"The #Detroit #RidefortheLiving is one of many around the globe that are adjuncts to the original Ride for the Living, held every year in #Poland. The original Ride begins at the nefarious #Nazi #concentrationcamp at #Auschwitz- #Birkenau, Poland, and ends at the #Jewish Community Center in #Kraków, Poland.
This international Ride for the Living takes place over four days in Poland in June. It features a 60-mile #bike ride as well as other activities related to the #Holocaust and Jewish community #history. It ends with a #Shabbat dinner. Most important, the Ride commemorates those who were lost in the Holocaust and the resilience of the Jewish people. It’s an impressive event. Just ask Cheryl and Arnie Berlin who took the Ride in Poland (June 7, 2018).
The JCC in Kraków is a prime exemplar for survival and resilience. Before World War II, Poland had the largest Jewish population in #Europe at 3 million."

Sorry, but #Trump doesn't get to tell Jews what to do.
I say that we should not observe Shabbat on May 15-16 out of "gratitude for our great nation," (because nationalism is idolatry) but rather for very different reasons --- as a day of living into a different set of values, ones that escew nationalism and war. #Shabbat should never be used as an excuse to bow the knee to a tyrant.
Excerpt: Throughout this historic year, we rejoice in the triumph of the American spirit and rededicate ourselves to the cause of liberty and justice for all. In special honor of 250 glorious years of American independence and on the weekend of Rededicate 250 — a national jubilee of prayer, praise, and thanksgiving — Jewish Americans are encouraged to observe a national Sabbath. From sundown on May 15 to nightfall on May 16, friends, families, and communities of all backgrounds may come together in gratitude for our great Nation. This day will recognize the sacred Jewish tradition of setting aside time for rest, reflection, and gratitude to the Almighty.

Why does Shabbat have to start so late? I go to bed at 9:00 but I'm going to have to stay up late for the candles to burn out, and stay up late for havdala tomorrow.

Shabbat Shalom שבת שלום
As the week winds down, here’s your gentle reminder to pause.
Not because everything is done — but because you deserve a moment to breathe.
To unplug.
To be present.
To trade doing for just being.
Whether you light candles, take a walk, share a meal, or sit quietly with your thoughts — let this be your reset.
A time to reconnect with yourself, your people, and what truly matters.
Wishing you peace, calm, and a full heart this weekend.
Shabbat Shalom to all who could use a little stillness and light.

Shabbat Shalom 💙
This week felt like a marathon.
So much happening, so many emotions, and honestly, I barely had time to catch my breath.
But now, here comes the pause — this built-in moment to step back, exhale, and just be.
No matter how the week went — whether it was productive or chaotic, uplifting or exhausting — this pause arrives, untouched by everything that came before it.
A reset.
A reminder that we are more than what we accomplish, more than the worries we carry.
So as the Shabbat enters, I’m embracing the quiet, letting a warm glow fill the space.
A small moment, but powerful enough to shift everything.
I hope you find a moment to unplug, to breathe deeply, and to soak in the peace that this time brings.
Shabbat Shalom, with love,
Inbal 💙🤍 -

Shabbat Shalom!
Shabbat isn’t just about resting — it’s about resetting.
It’s a gift of time to celebrate our efforts, release what’s heavy, and focus on what truly matters.
Let this Shabbat be a moment to embrace the quiet, honor your journey, and find strength in the pause.
Whether you spend it with family, friends, or in peaceful solitude, know that this sacred time is a chance to reconnect — with yourself, with others, and with the beauty of life.
Here’s to a Shabbat filled with clarity, gratitude, and renewal.

Shabbat Shalom 💙🤍
Whether you celebrate Shabbat weekly, occasionally, or simply take this as a reminder to slow down, I hope today brings you peace, reflection, and a sense of renewal.
Think of this time as a gift to yourself — a chance to look inward, appreciate the good, and let go of any stress or pressure that’s been weighing on you.
Sometimes, in the busyness of life, we forget to rest, to reconnect, and to just *be*.
So, this Shabbat, embrace this space for stillness, for gratitude, for connection with those around you, or even for a quiet moment on your own.
May you feel uplifted, cherished, and ready to step back into the week ahead, refreshed and inspired.

Shabbat Shalom, my friends.
As we enter this Shabbat, surrounded by the beauty of Sukkot and on the cusp of Simchat Torah, I can't help but reflect on the intense emotions swirling around us.
It's been one year since the horrific events of October 7th, and while the person responsible for so much of that devastation is no longer with us, the scars remain.
Every morning, I open the news, holding my breath — fearing a new catastrophe, yet clinging to hope for the miracle of good news.
I know many of you feel the same.
In this delicate space of both sorrow and hope, I wish you a Shabbat filled with peace, comfort, and all that you need to feel whole.
May this time bring only good news and a sense of renewal as we move forward together, stronger than ever.

There's something about the ambiance of a cozy café, with the soothing hum of quiet conversations and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee, that feels like a small sanctuary in our busy lives.
Imagine sitting by the window of your favorite coffee shop, a cup of perfectly brewed coffee in hand. The warmth from the cup spreads to your fingers, a gentle reminder of life's simple comforts.
Each sip brings a moment of peace, an opportunity to pause and savor the here and now. In these moments, surrounded by the soft clatter of cups and the murmur of fellow coffee lovers, there's a sense of community and a shared appreciation for life's small joys.
As we step into Shabbat, let's carry with us this sense of warmth and connection.
Let's remember that, just like a visit to our beloved coffee shop, Shabbat is a time to slow down, to reflect, and to cherish the quiet moments that give depth to our lives.Shabbat Shalom שבת שלום

In 2024, Israel has one dialect. One pronunciation. Which makes things so much easier! 😃
Some people pronounce Hebrew words in Yiddish or using other dialects or pronunciations.
My expertise in teaching you Hebrew as it is used by Israelis in Israel, today... the one dialect / pronunciation we have in Israel of 2024 🇮🇱

This is a new study (and not perfect/complete), since I no longer observe the Luni-Solar Calendar.
---
Abib 14 Evening: Passover meal
- famous "Last Supper" (Luke 22:15,16)
- at midnight: the Israelites were Passed over by the angel of death (Exodus 12:33)
- Judas betrayed the Messiah with a kiss
- after midnight: the Pharaoh drove the Israelites out of Egypt (Exodus 12:33)
- The Messiah in prison, questioned by the Pharisees, mocked
- The sudden exodus of the Israelites is represented by the removing of leaven (Exodus 12:15)
- So that, by the morning of Abib 15, Day 1 of the Unleavened Bread, there is no more leaven.
- Which signifies the first day the Israelites were out of Egypt, and without any leaven with them, as they were rushed to leave, and only brought with them necessities.Abib 15 Day:
- Day 1 of Unleavened Bread
- A high sabbath (no work)
- Trial of the Messiah in front of Pilate
- The Pharisees successfuly urged the people to choose Barabas.
- 09:00, the Messiah was crucified
- 15:00, the Messiah died
- The wall of the Holy of Holies broke in half.Abib 15 Evening
- Night 1 of death
Abib 16 Day
- Day 2 of Unleavened Bread
- Day 1 of death
Abib 16 Evening
- Night 2 of deaeth
Abib 17 Day
- Day 3 of Unleavened Bread
- Day 2 of death
Abib 17 Evening
- Night 3 of death
Abib 18 Day
- Day 4 of Unleavened Bread
- Day 3 - resurrection
- On the 3rd day, He rose.
- It was early morning of Weekly Sabbath.
- The Messiah is the Master of the Sabbath!
Abib 19 Day
- Day 5 of Unleavened Bread
- First Day of the Week
Abib 20 Day
- Day 6 of Unleavened Bread
Abib 21 Day
- Day 7 of Unleavened Bread
- A high sabbath (no work)
Abib 21 Evening
- Feast of Unleavened Bread ends---
Conversion to Gregorian calendar
* Abib 14 falls on April 04, 2023
- Passover meal
* Abib 15 falls on April 05, 2023
- Day 1 of Unleavened Bread
- A high sabbath (no work)
- 09:00 crucifixion
- 15:00 death
* Abib 18 falls on April 08, 2023
- Weekly Sabbath
- 3rd day: Resurrection Day
* Abib 21 falls on April 11, 2023
- Day of Unleavened Bread
- A high sabbath (no work)---
The Messiah rose from the dead, the first to do so, in the beginning of the Weekly Sabbath.
He did not rise on the 1st Day of the Week. He rose on the 7th Day of the Week. Which happened to be the 3rd day after he died and was buried.
Bonus: The Messiah did not go to Hell. This was a misunderstanding of the Text. But, this is a topic for another day.

If you believe in the Bible, then be like the Bereans. Do not be afraid to change your beliefs. The only dogma is the Scripture, not your personal beliefs, not your church's statements.
As we are all learning and journeying to re-discover the truth, it is without question that our current understanding is incomplete, and thus, updating ourselves is the only way forward.
