"A #Melbourne #Greek #restaurant has rejected online hate and a #bomb threat after hosting a joint #Jewish-Greek cultural evening.
On #Facebook, the owner insists it will keep bringing the communities together. Last Friday the #MediterraneanGreekTavern in #Elsternwick staged a night that mixed the two traditions.
Guests dressed in white, #challah sat beside Greek dishes, prayers were said, and a #bouzouki band played #HavaNagila alongside music from #ZorbatheGreek.

The next day the restaurant posted warmly about the young crowd. Supportive replies came first, then a surge of abuse via #socialmedia.
Commenters called the hosts sell-outs, accused them of supporting “#genocide killers,” urged that #Jews be #deported, and one reportedly openly called for the tavern to be #bombed."

"A #swastika was painted on #TempleShalom in #Wheeling, #WestVirginia, last week. Wheeling is about 60 miles southwest of #Pittsburgh.
The #Nazi symbol was painted on the #Reform congregation’s wall on Thursday, Aug. 13 and was removed before #Shabbat services on Aug. 14.
The congregation’s #Rabbi #JoshuaLief told the Herald-Star that police are investigating the act, calling it a “#hatecrime.”

Not typically a fan of Rabbi Ruttenberg, but this is an interesting, provocative thought-piece.
"Nobody would think twice about demanding a #reasonableaccommodation if #corporations asked #Jews to start violating #Shabbat or partaking of the #pork BBQ at the #company retreat against their own practice. And while I would not demand that every #Jew request such an #accommodation (for Shabbat or keeping #kosher), they should absolutely have that option available, even if their #religious practice is a work in progress. So too, here.
And despite seeing many people (including religious Jews!) eliding the moral and religious issues around #AI because "that train has already left the station," we should make choices based on whether they are right or wrong. Also, it's a fallacy: Movements grow from dissent."

The decision by the nation’s highest court to take up the case is considered highly unusual in the #American #legal system, as the Supreme Court hears only about 50 cases a year.
The dispute began in 2021. Grand, who lives in #UniversityHeights, wanted to pray with a #minyan, the quorum of 10 Jewish men required for certain communal prayers. Because Jewish law prohibits driving on #Shabbat and holidays, and the local #synagogue was too far away to reach on foot, he decided to host worshippers in his private home."

We observe the Feasts of YHWH because he commanded these, not because of rituals men told us to. It is fine if you stick to pure Torah instructions or if you want to add traditions, it is between you and The Most High. Just make sure you are not doing it as a ritual, otherwise, it is legalism. Do it because you want to obey The Most High. It was YHWH who commanded these, not men, and definitely not the Pharisees.
