  1. Today is #CarersRightsDay. Find out how #ESRCfunded CPC-CG research is uncovering #financial and #employment pressures on informal #carers and the urgent need for better recognition, support and planning: cpc.ac.uk/news/latest_news/?ac

Professor Jane Falkingham, CPC-CG Director, comments: “On #CarersRightsDay, we recognise unpaid #carers, often #caring at great personal cost, and the importance of knowing carers' rights." Watch Jane's full statement for Carers Rights Day: youtu.be/G7ZrEuqPg0k

  3. Today is apparently #CarersRightsDay - I didn't know. I just searched Carers because as one am having a hard slog of it recently. I have done it for over 10 years, firstly my late mother's cancer battle and continually looking after my 96 year old Dad (who at minute has recurring pneumonia & UTIs). It gets no easier. I have done numerous diverse mental and physical work but Home Carer is by far the most difficult - 24/7 hours (for a £69 per week allowance), high stress and emotional investment.

  4. SANE joins Carers UK in championing #CarersRightsDay.

The lack of rights for carers of those with mental illness is unacceptable. Confidentiality can exclude carers from having a right to information, with often tragic consequences.

  5. It's UK #CarersRightsDay

    Here's something I did recently for @BylineTimes and @Hardeep_Matharu

It's a shameful fact that the health and care system fails disabled people – but what's under-reported are the gaps in support for family members.

Carers' needs are unmet, their role overlooked, these issues should be part of the national conversation about the future of our health and care system
