Could Canada ever become the 51st state? No. Here's why.
Texas would have a problem. You think Texans are going to support the creation of a single contiguous state larger than itself? Hell, you could divide Canada into the 51st, 52nd, and 53rd states and we'd still be too big for Americans used to calling lil dinky landmasses like Delaware a state.
Assuming Canada would have to be divided into states smaller than Texas (a state with an area of 267,000 sq. miles), you would divide Canada's 6 million sq. miles into 23 slightly smaller-than-Texas-sized states.
Now if you really want Canada to be part of your more perfect union, there is one way. It's long been suggested that Canada should just up and sell itself to the USA. The suggested figure is $40 trillion. In other words, the USA can have Canada lock, stock, and Drumheller, Alberta if it gives each citizen $1 million.
What would it gain? Well, besides a nation of curiously attractive and relaxed people, America would get oil reserves second only to Saudi Arabia and added tax revenues. Canada generates roughly $200 billion a year in taxes. America's $40 trillion investment would reach the break even point 150 years later.
There are some psychological problems with laying out all that money. The USA has yearly tax revenues of $2 trillion. An extra $200 billion sounds like a rounding error. But really, what would it cost to buy the UK and acquire all those Crown Jewels? What would it cost to buy France, assuming you'd want France, and cough up money for all the paintings in the Louvre? Canada is a simple nation with simple needs. Just give us a huge stinking pile of American dollars. We'll throw in our Emily Carr paintings for free.
There are other ways to make that one time $40 trillion dollar charge look sound. For example, Canada has a work force of 16 million people. It would cost you $116 billion to head hunt a workforce that size. America is getting 6 million sq. miles, a lot of is undeveloped beach front property. That's $5 million a sq. mile or about $1,000 a sq. foot. My apartment is Seattle was 600 square feet and I paid $850 a month in rent. That works out to about a $1.40 a sq. foot/month. Amortized over that 150 year period, I'd shell out $2,500 per sq. foot. America is getting Canada for $1,000 a sq. foot. That's like a 250% savings!
Can America afford NOT to buy Canada? The numbers don't lie. Buy us. Now. Anything else is like leaving money on the table.

I also felt the last 10' before extra time things picked up a bit for the Canadians. The Americans were still the better side but not as dominant as the 45' -80' stretch.
I felt a few of the players in the 1st half were trying to make their plays look pretty, and that contributed to some of the slips, but that's part of the game at this point.

The Americans' goal at the 65' was quite overdue. So far, they've been dominant this half. It really looks like they've figured out the Canadians.
Hopefully, Canada can make a change and get back into the match. Would love to see this match stay close.

It's half-time in the #CanUSA #U17 #soccer match.
There are not too many chances from either side so far. The pitch looks slick, and there appears to be a bit of slipping by players on both sides.
If I have to give the half to one side over the other, I would say the Americans look a little better coordinated.
I did miss the first 20 minutes, though, so maybe I missed something in the first little bit.
